Hi,guys. Well let get started on the buick430. I think that was a great engine .Simple to work on , powerful.I would like to hear from you guy,s on the 430 engine . I like the old buick ,olds&pontiac engines .So.let me hear from you guys. GOD bless America
I would like to hear from you guy,s on the 430 engine . could you, perhaps, be a little more specific? we have two entire forums devoted to BBB buildups.
Car Craft Magazine did in fact compare the three BOP 455's back in 2001 and 2002. I have seen it on this site and on the internet but don't know just where. Try "Car Craft 555 hp Buick" or something like that. For many years I told my Olds buddies the Buick is 50 HP better from 14's to 10's and my two 1970"s Kenne-Bell parts catalogs (Buick & Olds) had two 1970 A-Body test cars they built with the same mods and same add-on's. The Buick was always 1/2 second faster in the quarter. I still have the catalogs. The Car Craft tests blew my mind as proof after all these years. Yes, 555 Buick, 501 Pont, 497 Olds. The best part is what Buick did to the Chevy, Ford and Mopar!!! MUST READ.
I have seen it on this site and on the internet TA used to host it but you can't find most of their historical and reference information since they updated their site? o No:
After reading some of these posts I have got to say there are some real rude people on this web site. It seems to be mostly the guys that have been here the longest. I have said it before and will say it again, there is a " Good Old Boy " bunch on here who don't seem to have time or respect for the newer people on here. 425 Olds showed a lot of class by not telling you rude people to kiss off. Bob H.
Bob, I would have to agree. Some of the criticism is a little harsh. I asked a question about turbo's on the Turbobuick forum and I guess it was a stupid question. Because one of the guys on there acted like I was an idiot. As you can guess I have never gone back over to that forum. So 425olds, What are you wanting to put A 430 into. I think a 442 would be a good choice? Also do you own any Buicks? Also did you know that the 430 and the 455 are basically the same motor?

Bob, in a previous thread which has since been deleted, the same person was logging in under two usernames, in effect typing as though they were two unique individuals. This is quite typical of people who care little for what we call "netiquette", and are often categorized as "trolls": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) . It's the sort of message board contribution intended to stir up other members. I've run internet message boards since the late '90's, perhaps I am too tired of this type of behavior and have too little tolerance nowadays.
Normally I wouldn't have addressed this but I have 0 tolerance when it comes to personal attacks or rudeness toward a person based on there intelligence or lack of ability. And it burns me even more when it turns into several individuals having fun at someone elses expense. My typing and punctuation also leave a lot to be desired also but I don't expect to be ridiculed for it. It would be good if we could just enjoy the web site and not be so critical? Bob H.
I am not condoning this type of driving I am about to tell you about .... We had an Olds "community" car back in the early 80's me and my friends bought. It was an Olds Delta 88, at least 20 ft long, with a 425 olds "ultra high compression super rocket" in it. It said all that on the air cleaner lid. We would leave the "Delta Queens" keys under the seat and any one of our friends that wanted to drive it could- just leave it topped off with gas was the only rule. We used to hit the orange groves in it and take it on back roads and do 75 ft long burnouts in it etc.....one night we raced 2 older guys in a 500 cid 70's Caddy on a lonely stretch of a divided 4 lane highway from 55 mph ..they ran by us at around ~105 mph..it was hilarious seeing those 2- 65 year old plus gentlemen (who were obviously car guys too ) looking over at us young punks- 20 years old -side by side at ~100 mph - they were having just as much fun as us "kids"...that Olds was one strong motor. We eventually blew it up after a year of abuse and threw a rod at the local drag strip on the starting line...that Olds would run...we never so much as had the air cleaner lid off or adjusted the carb once in all that time - it was a rocket.... I have 0 tolerance when it comes to personal attacks or rudeness toward a person based on there intelligence or lack of ability. well, i kinda figure that some of the forum members here took his first post as an "attack". i mean, how would you expect me to be treated if i went over to to a Mopar board and started talking about how that Hemi was pretty good but my Buick 430 would walk all over it? o No: if you want to brag about thrashing brand "x", it's generally not a very good idea to be posting about it on a brand "x" board. the brand "x" fanboys are likely to get a little peevish. but i do see where you're coming from as well. i might have come across as a bit harsh but it is just pure ignorance to be saying the SBB is a "weak" block. BBB sure, SBB no way.
I was just talking about personal attacks against him and his lack of ablity to communicate. As far as disagreeing with his opinion I'm with everybody else. What he said is wrong as doesn't make any sense. Bob H.
The only reason I even posted, was that I agreed with Devon, about him having two personalities, (User names.) and also, his posts did not make any sense. Did not quite know, what direction he was going with his threads. Those questions seem to have been answered. Welcome, 425olds. John.
