Napa in Central Florida still can get it! Hopefully I'm getting an extra can tomorrow. Hope this helps at least in Fl have your local napa guy do a search there still some out there!
Make sure they actually have the Duplicolor DH-1608. The NAPA stores down here in West Palm Beach cross reference it to the VHT SP109.
I checked the NAPA stores here in Pinellas county (Tampa area)....no longer available...so I ordered a case from the weblink posted here.
The ones I bought through the local NAPA dealer came from the Tampa distribution center. They are the correct DH1608 and are exactly the same as those in the picture poster by Doug Paine above in this thread. These were the last 20 cans listed as available when I ordered them 2 weeks ago. I bought all 20 cans and have a few extra if someone needed a couple cans! Rob
Hi there Rob! Thats interesting! When I went to my local NAPA a few weeks ago, they searched the entire Tampa Bay Regional Link? I was told and came up with nothing. Maybe since then , they found some somewhere? o No: GLAD you gottum! BTW... Because of the economy, in leu of "Second Annual Winterfest Buick event" ou: Fernando is hosting a "Bring-What-You-Wanna-cook" cookout this Saturday the 7th...interested in joining us goofs! We'd love to have ya! Wheelz, Tampa Bay
I was able to order both the Duplicolor and the Krylon on the web. p Try Firewheel Classics 800 711 0125 http://www.firewheelclassics.com/store/item.asp?Category=&SubCategoryID=&GroupID=&SKU=1611-2114 or Auto Barn 888-484-9560 http://www.autobarn.net/duphigheaten.html Watch the shipping charges. I found that you could order several cans for the same charge for one can....:dollar: - Bill
http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=151136 Here's a pic of my engine. Heads were Krylon (somewhat covered by DH-1608 overspray) intake is Cars Red. Rest of engine is DH-1608. For the most part, the colors of the paint can caps are correct (duh), but I thought the Krylon was too dark. I also thought the Cars red was too pink. In my opinion, the Duplicolor was just right. I ended up painting the intake DH-1608 red later on because the Cars red burned off right away.
I too had been searching recently for the correct Buick red engine paint with no luck so I started looking at different types of paint. The old source for Martin Senour commercial coatings Buick red is gone as Napa no longer can even cross reference the numbers. I looked a the Duplicolor high heat red and didn't like the flat finish although the original factory finish on our motors was far from glossy. More of a semigloss or matte red but definately not flat. I picked up several brands and colors before I ended up with Krylon of all manufactures, #9210 Radiant red in a RustTough enamel. I had an original unrepainted valve cover as a comparison piece so after trying several different spray paints I was happy to find a close match. Sofar the only area that has not held up is the exhaust on the heads but actual engine paint burns off there too. When I did the repaint on my motor recently, I did not paint the front cover and it was painted with the old Martin Senour Buick red years ago. You can hardly see the difference in daylight between the newly painted parts and the old. See here. http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=139694&d=1242772168 or http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=139693&d=1242772168 If anything the new parts are just a tad too shiny but I can live with that.
Anyone looking for some of this i will bring a case with me to Columbus.I don't think you can ship it so if your at the BPG Nats look me up. $8.00 a can. Tom
i just picked up the last 8 cans from my local napa dealer and he said unless it's in the warehouse he can't get anymore
