Maybe that was the color matching problem from the start?? o No: (The codes I had for him to investigate were PPG 2450, DuPont 927-AF403 or Rinshed Mason A-2564D)
yeah maybe i notice now it just has the paint level below deltron 2000, omni (horrible paint but cheap). that might be why cuz it is possible to switch it to DBC but its hard to do. that mite be why they had trouble.
Tim, I was going by the R-M formula which only uses silver metallic, but apparently PPG uses gold pearl in their formulation going by Jentz reply. Does your can of DBC have a formula on the label ? I was just curious as to what they build the color out of. I mixed some R-M b/c (Diamont) and I'm not sure it looks right. It calls for a little too much white in my opinion, and looks too "milky".
Here's a pic of my freshly painted 71. Bittersweet Mist (flame orange for 72) http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt287/PaRoadDawg/108.jpg
Just looked, nothing on the can or the sprayout card (you can have that if you wish, might able to spectro it)..sorry.... Mine does not look milky but at certain angles you would swear a panel has been repainted (they haven't), hard to describe but it almost has a lighter hue or silver tint or something, must be the metalflake. Tried to take pics of it but never shows up...I could try again as just bought new SLR and could maybe set up the lighting or something to try and show it if you are interested.
That car would look way better with the hood scoops painted the correct black instead of orange and a nice set of chrome rallye wheels.
I would have to agree. I checked out ebay too and the doorjamb windlace is all wrong, easy fix not sure why they left it like that? Neat car though.
Called my painter and he told me to peel the label off the can so I did (only for you would I take apart my paint can! ) and on the backside is the mix they used hand written. Means nothing to me, just a bunch of 3 digit numbers (assume those are paint codes?) with an amount....I'd type them out but there are 8 (!!) so fire me an e-mail and I'll scan it for you (not sure will show up if I post it here small size....)
So does anybody have the correct mix? I need to match it as closley as posible. If anyone has a correct sample, I would pay shipping back and forth. Or if anyone could put some that is mixed that they have extra in a babby jar or something to match at my body shop. Thanks for the help, Chris R.
OK kids, here is the actual mix for my car...PPG Deltron 2000 bc/cc. Jentz, can you break this down? I am curious what is in this color. BTW, if anyone uses this to mix their paint be aware that it was a match for my car and all paints vary somewhat in production so if you don't like it, not my fault!!
No, total was 6 quarts...the second can has same formula just doubled up on amounts (exactly). I'm guessing they mix by gallon amounts max?? no idea, not a painter. Anyway, have a fair amount left (1.5 qrts?), that was the idea should anything need repair down the road....also keep in mind the entire car was sprayed, inside and out (more or less)....
