what about bob gilleland (i think thats how you spell it) used to run in the fastest street car races with nos. wheres that car now what happened to it? Cody
Mike Modena's Scrap Iron Screamer. (The blue one.) I saw it run in Tucson at a Buick show we use to have. I would love to see the new car... :Brow:
Thanks Perry, for posting a picture of my blue 70, even though I don't really consider it a "drag car". The new drag car I'm building should be way better than my blue one, at least as far as a "drag car" goes! There are soooo many nice Buick drag cars that come to mind I couldn't possibly put them in any order, but the one that sticks in my mind as the "one that impressed me the most" would be the "old version" of the TA wagon. It was always the one car that drew people to the stands when Mike brought it to the staging lanes! Ahhh.... the good old days....... where did they go? o No:
X-2, i saw the original car in bowling green, that is what inspired me to build my car. Mike is a great guy.
I remember seeing the 70 Reynolds Buick in an old Kenne Bell catalog when I was 14-15 and dreamed of owning a GS some day ....I just thought it was the most understated bad axx car I had ever seen .I did eventually own a few and even though it wasnt unreal fast compared to cars today it still makes an impression on me when I see those old photos of it .......modern cars I am a big Gessler fan too because of the sleeper look.
There are a lot of cars and drivers I like. But the first that comes in mind is: Buddy Ingersoll ran this Buick V6 Pro Stocker at an IHRA event in 1986. The car was outlawed later. http://www.youtube.com/user/GofastBuick#p/f/0/zuZQEVAkV9U Was really good to see Buddy run his Buick V6 Twin Turbo car against those BIG CI V8's!
Are those the same heads with all the "bronze work"? I've heard that there was "big bucks" spent on those, back in the day. Awesome, to say the least!
My favorite is Oliver Coltriar's GSE GSX. That car simply hauls the frieght and was really well set up. The last time I saw it was in 2005 and it had a dry sump on it. It was a really nicely done car. I did not like it as much when it have the dual superchargers but after they removed the dual superchargers and went to GSE it was a really awesome looking and performing car. Mark
Ollie's car was/is a real, legit GSX. And get this, the California gang ACTUALLY tubbed it last summer. It runs in the pro street class now. I think it ran 9.40's last year. When Dave told me he was going to tub the car I begged him to not do it and asked him if I could buy it, knowing I couldnt swing it, but thought it was worth a shot. No deal. Those guys are gearheads to the bone.
I would have to go with poppa brunos red 65 skylark and the old white 70 GS stage 1 He had tearing up Hempsted tpk :TU:
I know he doesn't like to "toot his own horn" so I'll speak up for him . . . speaking of which, I don't know if it even has a horn . . .
