I purchased my PureStock car yesterday. I've been toying with using my '72 Cutlass but this car is what I've wanted. Vital stats: 1968 F85 Jade Gold/Parchment interior 3spd on the floor Manual steering Manual brakes Vinyl floor Bench seat Non a/c
So here it is. These two pics give you an idea. I will be taking tons to document what I have and what I'm missing. My goal is to be done by 2020!! I hope I can get all the parts collected and the resto finished by then. I already have made contact with a friend of a friend that may have some goodies for me. So now I'll have something to talk about at Martin! I'm still on the sideline's but not for long. Yes 10 years is a long time. But I am married to a wonderful woman and I have 3 kids (6,3,15months) so time flies by with little ones. Matt
You bet it's got the man pedal. We'll have to see if this thing can take down a certain GT-37:Brow: Matt
awsome project, let me tell you how you solved a mystery,I have a steering wheel that nobody new what car it went to,and now that has been solved.in your interior picture you have that wheel exact wheel minus the horn center,I cant believe it,thanks for posting that interior pic.My name is Chris [ thebuick ] :beer
No problem. Now the next mystery is: Does the F85 W31 have an F85 hood or an S hood like in 69? Trying to find info online and it's tedious. The product information manual doesn't offer any help. Matt
Matt, Great find, A few questions..... What shape are your door panels, no one reproduces these door panels. Are the floor boards all rusted from the moisture of the vinyl mat? Is the vinyl mat reusable? Is the glass "Clear" or "Tinted"? Dan
Yup....and I donated a Cd of all of the assembly manuals for A car from 1965 (first year for PIM) through 1972..end of the good ones...to the Oldsmobile Performance Club website in Wild About cars. So far they've uploaded only the 1965 and 1968 ones...Those two were taken from my original copies (also 1972) and the rest were from firt run copies of originals from others. They are complete and very clear copies. Adobe Acrobat, print the page you want. The hood usage is shown toward the end of UPC 11, sheet metal. As soon as time permits, all years will be posted there along with some other genuine original material...like Service manuals. Whole lot cheaper to join up for $9.95 and have access to all this than it is to buy a CD for $20 of one of them, or upwards of $50 for an original. That should make a great Pure Stock car. It's a whole lot lighter than mine (3909#):bglasses
that steering wheel is identical to the one in my 67 buick special with the exception of the horn button.
I don't have it home yet. The gentleman in the first pic is my friend Rick. He's and Olds man from way back. He had his knee operated on again a couple of days after getting the car. I do know there is rust in the driver's floor. I'm pretty positive the interior was changed. The white vinyl has no pattern whatsoever. I do know of a 68 F85 that is in great condition. I'll be getting pics of it eventually. Also a 69 F85 parts car was found so we will be comparing interiors to see if we have enough to send to Legendary. The mat looks to be reusable and I'm not positive on the glass yet. My guess would be non tinted. Matt
Yea yea. The next time I get to drive the 37 I won't be so gentle. I smell a match race. Then we'll have to get the women involved. Hope can drive the '72 Matt
If you ever need some manifolds or the rear windshield to it, I'll give you all I have left from my 1968 F85 350 2 speed. Good luck with it. I'm drooling. Fav year Olds, and I'm looking for the 350 4 speed as my next car...eventually.:3gears:
If you're needing a grille, this guy has a NOS one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item335c884e43 NOS 1968 Olds 442 Grille Oldsmobile Cutlass #398640
"Fantabulous Find" :TU: ...That will make one nice rare W31, especially since time is on your side. oh, and don't forget those cool Trumpet exhaust tips and the Bumper ok?:beer
Rusty, I'm surprised you hadn't posted until now!! The RamRod won't need any 442 trim or bumpers. It's gonna be the el cheapo stripped down racer. Matt
