Sup peeps. Here she is in some gloomy weather. Its got 13s in the rear and 15s up front. i got the other 13s with hub caps in the truck tho Its got alittle rust here and there but it will be part of the learning experience to remove and treat rust. Inside is pretty clean. If you see any mess in there, it was my own doing. Im 6'2" 300lbs and i fit fine in there X( I could use a tad smaller steering wheel XD It looks like all the crome trim/parts are there. Wonder if i can add some more trim from a deluxe or skylark Im pretty overly happy with it so far Thoughts?
Looks like a very nice, clean little car. My Grand pa bought a Special like that one new. When he died in 81 it had 13K on it. There were three of us grand kids that wanted it so my aunt said the only fair way to sell it was at the estate auction. None of the three of us had the bucks to get it. Still gets me mad every time I think about it!
Sure thing I think the flash from the camera makes the engine/bay look worse then it really is. In this shot you can see a hose that leads to nothing sitting on top of the wheel well. I think it could have led to the washer reservoir but im not sure. Anyone ahve any idea about it?
:TU:Looks good to me. A little detailing is all it needs. Absolutely, it is for the washer reservoir. I'm sorry I don't know what type of reservoir is correct for 62. The triangular bottle is an anti freeze storage for the washer system. Here's a thread on that; http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=220880 And, that universal top radiator hose is putting stress on the radiator hose fitting. It can cause the fitting to separate from the radiator. You need to replace it with a proper factory type. Perhaps NAPA would have one that fits. Or, someone on the board can tell you where to find one. Your car is neat. I like it.
Great thanks for the link ! ill keep my eye on ebay for a washer reservoir. As for the hose on the radiator...... well i thought it was odd that the hose lead to nothing. There is no over flow reservoir whicj i was going to ask about. Im not sure of what your saying tho. is the problem the hose its self or is it the cap? universal top radiator hose putting stress on the fitting? is the hose to thin?
The ribbed upper hose is what he's talking about. It's universal because it's a straight hose with no actual bends in it. It can be used anywhere it will fit. If you bend it and let go, it returns to being straight. I think what he's saying is that once your cooling system heats up and puts some pressure in it, it really tries to return to straight, but cannot do so because of the curve in it due to the fact that it's attatched, so the next weakest part takes the stress from the pressure. Am I right?
Fox, and Brian, That is what I'm trying to say. But, to me, that ribbed hose; hot, cold and in between (always), is pulling on the radiator hose fitting. When one of those hoses is loose,(off the car) just, like Brian said; "If you bend it and let go, it returns to being straight." On the washer reservoir; Does the 62 have one like the 55? I see them on Ebay regular. It's a TRICO. (It looks like an old mayonnaise jar) It and the wipers are vacuum actuated. Are 62 wipers vacuum? Or, electric? anyway here's the picture
Nope. for 62 it's a cubed rectangular affair; ttp://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/buick/special/180185.html
OOH ok i see what your saying... well if its going to put that much strain on it then ill look for a stock replacement. Thanks for pointing that out.
NAPA is local to me. In fact it is the closest to my house. And, the closest to where my car is stored (Dad's house). I've bought from Kanter and Steele on line. What, I saved on Alabama sales tax; helped, offset the shipping costs. From Kanter; I got all the gaskets for my engine. From Steele; I got new reproduction rubber for all the weather stripping, door trunk and hood bumpers, etc. I'm pretty sure I got all the hoses and belts from NAPA. Any of the rubber I didn't get from NAPA came from Steele.
