I am always happy to do a full custom quote for anyone, no charge, no obligation.. Using parts that you already have, that are sutible for this build, brings the cost down, often substatially.

    Thanks for looking

    Andrew,

From overseas your best off to just box up the parts you want to use, and buy the crank and block cores from me, and we can put together a motor for you, tough to make the $$ work out for those heavy cores, unless you have an Uncle that owns a shipping company..

Ben, here's the dyno sheet on this combo. Super streetable, very mild lope, reasonable gas mileage with a
Q-jet can be had with this build, which is great for a 600 hp combo. Lots of vacuum, Larry can tell you all about it, he's had one in his car for several years now.

Here's the same motor with my Street Strip Port TA Stage 2SE heads, and a Performer and Q-jet!

This one will retain your factory GS air cleaner for stealth.

    Andrew,
I asked Jim to build me an engine that would put my full weight GS into the 11's but still be able to drive it anywhere. I have 3.73's out back, and use a Gear Vendors Overdrive to reduce my RPM on the highway. I drove the car from my home in NY to Maryland (350 miles round trip) 4 years in a row and ran nothing but 11's, most mid 11 second passes. It has torque everywhere. I can easily spin the street radials in 2nd gear without even getting into the secondaries of the Quadrajet, just a stab of the pedal does it. It idles at 750 RPM in gear, and runs cool. I have gotten a best of 16 MPG while driving it down to Cecil County Dragway in Maryland. Here is the build thread,

Same cam in this Perf/QJ setup as the post #1 specs (231/238)?

It's actually smaller than that. Here is the cam card. 230/238 at .050.

    Scott,

Not exactly the same, but very close. I played with.the lobe centers a bit on the stage 2 version. Duration was a couple degrees more on the intake, but wider lobe center made it act very much.like Larry's cam.

Am I not seeing the level 1A-R motor and spec prices? How is it different from the level 2??

Jim I see my torque converter is on its way. Thank you !!! Hope to get it in soon.

    Brock,

Yep, shipped it Tuesday if I recall correctly.. I think it was suppose to be out there tomorrow.

The Level 1 AR motor differs in 3 ways

    Dual plane intake and Q-Jet

Level 2 Porting instead of Level 3

And it has an optional camshaft choice to run exhaust manifolds, in Stage 1 configuration of course.

The price on this page is actually 7 years old, but not all the far off the current pricing. In fact, the only reason it is more now, is the cost of the parts and the sublet labor pricing has gone up, I have held my labor costs steady for about 10 years now. I was able to do that, because I drastically reduced my overhead here about 7 years ago, when we discontinued the restoration side of the business, and moved out of the big expensive shop I had, to the building behind the new house we purchased when we moved out of the twin cities. Also, the prices has increased because I am doing more now than ever before with these things, in the way of blueprint machining. From the dowel pins on the back of the block, to the cam tunnel, there is nothing now that is not checked and corrected, as required.

I am in the midst of re-doing the company website, and all the engine options and current prices will be available, also we are doing an interactive "engine builder" page that will allow you to select your parts combo, and it will build the motor right in front of you, give you estimated power and the price. It's a huge undertaking, but I thought we needed something like this for the Buick community. It will be a fun tool to just sit and play with, building your dream motor, or seriously use to build the engine your about to order from us.

I am able to do this because I have taken extensive pictures over the last 18 years of all 106 BBB engines I have built in that time, and I have pics of every choice for say a Cylinder head, from a set of stock iron small valve heads, to the KBR Billet heads, and everything in between.

And there is new parts development going on all the time, to help us build better engines, and give the Buick faithful more choices than ever.

Will the "engine builder" works for the 350 also ?

Yes, that will come on line later, due to me having built 106 BBB's, and 4 350's..... so it will take some time to have the pictures to do it correctly.. or not.. not really sure at this time, I have it in my head how I want it to look, but we are in the early stages here.
