Today's episode - they showed the engine upgrades and swapping to a 700R4. And as a bonus, they mentioned "the guys at v8Buick"! It is must see tv!! Thanks Tommy!
I loved today's episode. They are doing some really cool stuff to the motor and I cant wait to see what kind of power they get out of the that beast now aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh I cant wait till the next episode they left us hanging. Really love the fact they are doing all this to a Buick and Tommy was out right asking the V8 board why the bolt heads where hollowed out very funny  I liked the parts that they are using and that they talk about the weight of the parts. The fact they are recurving the dist is also very cool. We all know that a good recurved dist will help a LOT! !! With the headers, alum heads and alum intake I would like to know how much weight that front end just got off of it??? Tommy you guys ROCK !!!! :TU:
I've really enjoyed the blue collar buick build, I'm glad they did it. But that paint scheme is hideous.
"OMG" ,Thank you, thank you, thank you ....They done an episode totally committed to me, (Lol), "455 upgrade".. I'm weeks away from pulling 455 and doing some general repairs and performance upgrades but had no ideal where to start first at. It was like they were "in my head, reading my mind" and working on my motor, i mean i already got the Aluminum radiator, eddlebrock intake(B4B),Holley carb,Accel performance HEI setup.long tube 3 in. collector headers, and all. But i had no ideal where to go or what to do next, engine wise. (what heads, cam, pushrods needed, convertor etc) all street friendly,"weekend cruiser and red light smoker" !! Got full front disk brake kit in 2 weeks ago, confirmed 12 bolt posi on the way in. "boyyyy" i can't wait, "if not for it being 29 degrees outside, and my neighbors thinkn i was crazy for being out", i would be tearing it apart now !!! Now i know where to go and what's needed and next to do. One of many episodes recorded, but number one show on permanat dvr lock !! off from work today, but calling in, for voluntary O/T, "Got get some more money for spring shopping",Than kyou....
Car Craft did a very in depth two part article on building Buick power with different cam/head combos if you want to see some actual numbers associated with specific combos.
Did they mention "v8buick" by name?? I was hopin they would but didnt see it. Maybe I missed ito No: . Darn beer bladder....
It was at the very beginning. Rick was saying how it turned out great and "most of you guys loved it"... .then Tommy takes over and says "we got some flack from some Buick guys from V8Buick.com that we didnt do this 455 justice"... It was great!
Did i hear them say they didn't use a valley pan? Won't that allow hot oil to splash up onto the intake?
Finally!!! they get back to a point they should have been at months ago. And they mention "us" at the top of the episode. Lets see where they go with the rear end change???
They must have taped some of the show before they brought the car to the Nationals as it already had the aluminum heads on it. Did the rear end have disks on it on the "before" test?
Hey Tommy(the dude on the show), Edelbrocks design has nothing to do with the fact that you'll suck all the oil out of the motor through the PCV line without a valleypan. It has nothing to do with the heat transfer form the hot oil. Well a little but say bye bye to the oil without it. Ask me how I know?
With an anemic 194 hp(but a decent 271 TQ) to the rear wheels you can see why you don't want to start out with a 75-76 engine. You don't even want to waste time with a valve job on those heads. This engine even benefits from a bump in compression with the hyper pistons and the mild cam. Tommy what specific Crane cam did you upgrade to? I'm going to have to agree that the intake shield should have been used. Normally when you use the composition intake gaskets you cut the pan from an old steel gasket. The new setup will put down some nice power now and I'm gonna guess 299 HP the next time. Anybody else want to take a shot at it?
299 at the rear wheels...That would be about 350 at the flexplate? Im in no way qualified to even guess at HP on the new setup but hoping for a number that will raise some eyebrows on the chevy and ford people. Hoping over 300 for sure.
So, today the CCGSCA had their Feb. club meeting at Casper's new digs, twards the end of the meeting it was mention that someone wanted to bring in their Buick so we could all see it... Guess what it was..... The owner had just gotten it off the transport 20 minutes before we all got to see it. He's a really nice guy and now a member of the CCGSCA. Beth
