Hey guys, I wanted to show you my project. I bought this wagon few months ago here in germany. I didn't like the color, and the body needed some work, so I'm preparing it for the new paint job right now. Check out the pictures and feel free to comment on anything or ask questions if you want to.
Thank you guys. I've decided to do a frame-off. Does anybody have experience with the Fel-Pro engine gasket set? http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/?N=1585+9826+4294962560+4294963345 And I'm not gonna put the estate wagon trim back on. Do you guys think anybody would be interested in buying it? It's complete for both sides.
Raoul, Like I already pointed out in your introduction post: Register there and let them know that you have those mouldings for sale :TU: The Fel-Pro kits are good quality. Don't forget to order 8 valve stem seals along with their kit.
Thanks for saving this one! (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon project) Hi Raoul and V-8 Buick wagon fans, Thanks for saving another mature wagon! :TU: Always nice to see wagons getting the TLC they deserve. Cheers, Edouard :beer
Yeah i know, I'm just signed up to some many forums, for every car I own I'm at least in two forums, I'm sick of it. It's exhausting to keep everything upddated:grin:. But I guess I have to, or does anybody now where to get the window gaskets for all the side windows here (at an affordable price)? Especially the rear ones are hard to find.
Ditto - forum overload . . . (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) Hi Raoul, Erik, and V-8 Buick digital-age classic car caregivers, Ditto!! I wasn't aware of that forum until Erik mentioned it. I did register and . . . have never made it back there. It doesn't seem to be very alive. Is anyone actively monitoring it? Is it worth the time to keep an eye over there? Sorry, wish I could help. My wagon has the benefit of being a mid-60s A-body. So there are a lot more parts because of the Chevelle wagon and El Camino crowd. Even so, tailgate parts are really, really hard to find. Good luck with your search!! Cheers, Edouard :beer
Re: Ditto - forum overload . . . (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) If you don't post there, you will forget about that forum after a while. Same thing will happen here if you don't reply to/or open new threads yourself. But if you are active in a few threads, you will visit the forum every time you receive an e-mail notification. And that will automaticly lead you to new interesting (Buick related?) station wagon threads :TU: By the way Edouard, there's no member with the name "elagache" registered there.
The invisible elagache (Re: Ditto - forum overload . . .) Howdy Erik, Raoul, and V-8 Buick wagon fans, Sorry Raoul to hijack your thread a bit, but perhaps it will generate additional interest in your problems. Really now . . . is that so? http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/member.php?u=7953 :Brow: However you are right in not seeing my entry on the member's list. Wonder what that's all about!?!?? Oh yeah!! Well prove it wise-guy! Seriously, have you found anything interesting over there? Is there any juicy thread that you might suggest to us to give us some motivation to patronize yet another forum? Us weary web surfers need a little motivation!! Cheers, Edouard :beer
Maybe you first have to make a post ? What about the 2 drs Estate Wagon thread ? Board member "75Riv" (Rob) introduced that project to V8Buick after reading about it on the Station Wagon Forums :TU: Go to the SWF and do a search for "Buick" (if you are not interested in other wagons.)
Re: Ditto - forum overload . . . (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) Right, the registration link email never reached my email account. I can't even post there, gotta contact their admin soon. So has mine, I think it's called the B-Body (?) Catalina, Bonneville, Impala and Olds 88 wagons of 64 use the same roof. But I can't find a good source for GM wagon parts at all.
GM B-Bodies much harder (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) Hi Raoul and V-8 Buick wagon lovers, I have managed to get registered on the station wagon forum. However, that's a mighty diverse topic to cover all station wagons. Not sure how much help that will be. According to Wikipedia, yes the 64 LeSabre is a second-generation B-Body. Unfortunately, the GM full-size wagons seem even more neglected than the mid-size. I suppose because the mid-size are "close cousins" to the GM early muscle cars. There is one more resource you might check out if you haven't already. There is a Yahoo email distribution list called: Rarewagons. As far as I can tell, it is also mostly dominated by 60s Chevelle wagon fans. Still, someone on that list had contacts that ultimately lead to a rear window channel for my tailgate after months of looking. It is an extremely low-traffic email list. There have been 3 messages in the past 3 months. So at least it won't bother you too much! Good luck with your project. I feel like I've been banging my head against the wall on my wagon and still am arguably a "lucky one" when it comes to wagons! Cheers, Edouard :beer
Re: GM B-Bodies much harder (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) From my thread about the 1946-1985 GM body styles, here's the 1961-1965 information :TU:
Re: GM B-Bodies much harder (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) Thats what I thought! Now, the show must go on: You find some intersesting stuff in old cars. Wasp nests, bullets, a pack of mustard...hopefully one of the next few weekends I can do the frame-off.
Interesting wagon "stowaways" . . . (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) Hi Raoul and V-8 Buick wagon fans, Thanks for sharing the pictures of the disassembly of the LeSabre! :kodak: Yes, that is interesting . . . perhaps even disturbing!?!?! . . . :blast: Our family wagon was stolen in in the summer 1986 and used by drug dealers for 3 months. Amazingly we got the car back in remarkable shape. But for a few weeks we were finding additional drug paraphernalia. When the time comes to do a body-off restoration for da' trusty wagon perhaps a few more bits will turn up! uzzled: Hope the restoration proceedings with nothing more surprising than that!! :TU: Cheers, Edouard :beer
Re: Interesting wagon "stowaways" . . . (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) Looking forward to the reassembly even more! Might take a few months tho!
Re: Interesting wagon "stowaways" . . . (Re: My 64 LeSabre Estate Wagon) Just a quick note Edouard, don't try crossing any international borders before you disassemble your car. The Federales have "four legged" technology for sniffing out such "interesting" material.
Why doesn't somebody TELL me these things!! (Re: Interesting wagon "stowaways") Howdy Tom, Raoul, and V-8 Buick . . . adventurers!! . . . Why doesn't somebody TELL me these things!! Ya' see I did pay a visit to Tijuana, Mexico around 1996-7 . . . I suppose the odor either had dissipated by then or there really isn't much to be found anymore. I crossed back into San Diego having completely forgotten about the car's seedier past . . . . This car really has had . . . . quite an adventurous life! Cheers, Edouard :beer
