So I have done everything. New plugs. New coil. Rewired the coil all the way to the firewall. New spark plugs. New spark plug wires. Gapped all the plugs. I have a points distibutor that is brand new and I gapped the points. I did a compretion check and all cylinders check out at 150psi. I cleaned all the spark plug holes to make sure their was not paint keeping the plugs from grounding. Checked the resistance on all the plugs. I turned the lights off to see if it was arking or sparking, nothing. Now I checked the timing and I noticed the light was skipping a beat (erratic) it did this on every single cylinder, some worse then others. The car idles very rough. No valve train noise. When I rev the engine to 5000rpm it backfires a little. Please help, I am very upset with the car and I do not want to keep dumping money into the engine.
What did you gap the points to? Did you use a dwell meter to fine tune them? Did you set the points before or after you set the timing? What did you set the timing to? initial? total? Whats the vacuum reading of the engine at idle? Whats are the specs of the cam that in there? lift? duration at 050?
Its a buick 350 I have redone the spark plugs 3 or 4 times to make sure the are all in order. I have a vaccume leak that I need to fix but that would not cause spark plugs to not fire. Its a voodoo lunati 67000 cam. Brand new timing chain.
Vacuum leaks cause lean mixtures and misfiring. Fix the vacuum leak, and don't free rev an engine to 5000 RPM in Park/Neutral if that is what you are doing. BTW, do you want us to pray for your engine? You are in the Help From Above Forum. It's not that bad is it?:grin:

Well boys im proud to say I found the miss. The points were totally fried, 6 bucks and it runs like new.:3gears:
Didnt you say the distributor was new? o No: And where in the world did you get quality points for $6?
Leaves me wondering as well. Fried points in a new distributor doesn't jive, and I'm wondering if the $6 set of points came without a new condenser, which with a bad condenser is quite possibly the reason they cooked in the first place. Devon
Okay update. Car ran great, Until I drove to a girls house to eat dinner with her family. The car did not want to start so I let the car cool off with the hood up and I put heat wrap on the fuel line. Solved the starting issue, it was vapor locking. So I start driving and I got on it a little bit and all the suden its missing again. I bearly got to her house on time, you should have seen me trying to get out of her driveway with it missing like that. Luckly I told her dad the car had fried the points on the way over here so he new it was the car not me
When you changed the points ,How did you set the new ones???? With a feeler gauge or did you set them with a dwell meter? If the dwell is off your car will run like trash. Dwell should be set at 30 degree's with engine running.
