Yes Andy, we know how you feel about situations like this since you're fond of reminding us time and time again, ad nauseum. All I'm saying is that the clarification should be made here on V8Buick so everyone's on the same page, leaving as little as possible to misinterpretation. Devon
original for sale ad should have been a link to the craigs list ad then that would have taken the v-8 board out of the equation posting it on here the way it was and then selling it off the board was wrong BOTTOM LINE IF YOU POST IT HERE FOLLOW THE RULES if you cant then don't post it here. a couple of weeks ago I tried to buy a Mallory dist on the board got in line waited on photos sent PM's waited some more then gave up so I posted I was out of line..............a couple of days later I get an email with photo's saying it mine (and it was at a bargain price too) but I declined because of the board rules ....when I opted out it went to the next in line so I can play by the board rules so I expect everyone else to also just my opinion scott
Actually, Juan is free to have interpreted the "guidelines" the way he saw fit. They are too vague. He's been buying and selling on V8Buick since he joined! In fact, that's pretty much all he does here, and there's nothing wrong with that. Jim Lore interprets them the same way. Look, the differences are a moot point. The only reason I stepped into this was to say that clarification may be in order to avoid future trouble. The fix is easy! Devon
I am with you, if its on ebay post a link in the ebay parts and cars section if its anywhere else other then V8buick post a link in the parts and cars "leads" section. There is no need for this to happen at all. I think that people are just being lazy and don't care about what anyone thinks. I think in general the the classifieds need to be cleaned up, look at this add. I helped the guy keep track of some of his sales, I spoke up for the console shifter package and in the end someone back doored it from under me. The guy won't return pm's or post http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?263048-Parting-out-70-GS-Stage-1-455-TH400 Post#2 here http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?270886-Go-fast-parts the guy is in line on August 1st for the oil pan, days go by with no response. Why do people do this? Herb had a set of pistons for sale, I waited 4 days and the bone head never did show up again after saying he wanted them. The selling and the buying both need to be cleaned up.
:gp: Edit rules to require sales on multiple locations outside of this forum( eBay, craigslist ect) to be listed in "leads" not for sale. Posting here to me is giving a first opportunity to other board members, we try and help each other out. Myself and others have lost out on complete cars that were sold outside this forum without any disclaimers when we were next in line... DL
Andy, It may be present here... But by you and a few others only. This board has attempted to show pride we have in our Buick community. How many yellow bullet posting have been giving items away? That occurs here quite often. There is no money talking there at all. It is the camaraderie that many of us share on this board. As for there being an easy fix, I agree that it can be addressed with a simpile rule change if the powers to be are willing to do so. It could be as easy as requiring if a part is for sale elsewhere, that a link be provided or stated in the thread at the minimum. We so often see in threads, people being quite respectful and getting in line for a part. Waiting patiently (for the majority of the time) to see if they will get a chance to buy something they need. Just throwing my $.02 in as I contacted COMPTA by PM for Jim that evening to get some answers about the trailer to only find out the next morning that it was sold elsewhere. I too agree with the thought of when I list something here, I am giving my fellow Buick bretheren the first chance at it. Mike
Actually, in his post about posting in the For Sale forum, Mike Bucy calls them "rules". I dont feel like they are open to interpretation or vague at all unless someone "wants" to interpret them to their own benefit. I have sold and bought hundreds of items in this forum, never once giving or receiving poor feedback until this deal. That tells me that the "rules" for using this forum are pretty darn clear and understood by most all v8buick members who choose to "interpret" the rules the way the have been written by the board owner. This is from the owner of the board, so I guess they are rules, and not open to interpretation. ""Re: Guy's, Let's Review The Rules Before Posting Ads!!""
This happens to me a few times a year and I used to get really pissed off. I have learned to accept it unless it was a fellow board member that beat me out of it.......then they get exposed and blacklisted from any future dealings with me.
Jim is the one who used the term "guidelines" not once but twice which was quoted above in this very dispute. This is the kind of written clarification that needs to take place so that we don't have to have this conversation again. Devon
Wasn't this thread originally posted in the "Cars and Parts For Sale Leads" section (granted there wasn't an external link in the posting)? Looks like it got moved to the "Parts For Sale" section. It doesn't look like there was any intentional misleading going on, but I agree that a clarification of the rules seems to be in order to avoid any future misunderstandings.
Jim isnt the board owner and he didnt make the rules. Mike Bucy is the board owner and he calls them rules. Not arguing with you.
I also got mess over by a member of this board that was going to sale me an item, but then "desided not to sale it". I later found out one of his "friends" ended up with the item. Tried to call him out on it and got no where. Came real close to closing this account, but stayed for the information on this site.
No argument intended, I really do appreciate the discussion. Mike is the registrar for the V8Buick.com domain and runs this place technically. From a financial and maybe more importantly a standpoint of creation and intellectual property, this place is Jim's. Regardless, together they both make up the backbone of this forum and I'm glad for it. If this is incorrect, I apologize in advance. Devon
I thought I remembered seeing there on my first look. I went back to leads and the "moved" notice is there....
