Sorry Michael I forgot about the amount of vacuum. For the break in period or until I change the break in oil, I didnt run the vacuum pump much. I opened up the breather on the rocker cover and it pulled 5" of vacuum, as I didnt want much while running in. Thats what everybody says. That thing is bloody ANGRY Cheers
Here is another video I took warming up the oil for an oil change http://youtu.be/uNHOKy6k828 I fixed the thread in the block for the starter motor and its nice and tight in there now Did I mention, I love the smell of the E85 Cheers
Finished up the full exhaust. Really happy with the result, as it has quietened it down considerably. Hopefully my engineer will agree. I fired it up inside the garage so outside it will be a bit quieter also. http://youtu.be/7gcCzKmTw54 http://youtu.be/2K-htOuJDEg http://youtu.be/5oFPPRaiGr4 Still have the thumpity thump sound as well. Cheers
sounding good. Mine is not going to be making any sound for a few months. It has to come back out to see why I am getting copper into the filter. Just when I got it running better than it ever has.
I changed out the spring in the oil pressure regulator and sent a bit more oil up the top via the holley jet restrictors and oil pressure is spot on with 30psi hot idle and 70psi hot 5000rpm. Cant wait to get the transmission behind it so I can go for a drive :3gears: Couldnt help but try the 2-step today.............. WOW  how cool is it! Got a guy coming around on the weekend to give the carbs a once over. Cheers
Had a slight setback last week. TA to the rescue. Thanks Mike and Sherri It alive again and the awesome smell, burning eyes, running nose, coughing is fantastic!!!!!! Cheers
Wow Royden, I'm sorry to see the T&D rockers didn't hold up. No other problems in the valvetrain due to the breakage, I hope! Nice upgrade, though! Devon
No probs Devon. I believe it was caused by a clearance issue and maybe a touch too much lift, spring pressure etc. I forgot to add that the pushrods were not affected at all. These things are bloody strong. I think being tapered helps a lot. Cheers
Well, its finally off to the dyno on Tuesday. ray:ray: hope everything goes ok. We will be bolting it up to the dyno Tuesday afternoon and then spend Wednesday running it up. Cheers
Royden, What did you do for an oil pan (aluminum or ? from where)? You taking the whole car to the dyno or just the engine? Was the picture you just posted of when you were installing the engine or is it comming back out?
The oil pan was one that TA/SRE built for me. I have asked Steve to make me an alloy one that will have a uniform depth of 7" Just engine. The pic was taken yesterday as the engine was coming out. I always had to pull it out again so I can put my TSP TH400 in there once the ship gets here. I had a loaner TH400 so I could atleast run it at a hotrod event we went to. Cheers
Yes mate. Just got back. Have an issue with the pan mods I did, as the drain back hole above the pick up is not enough and we run out of oil above 5700rpm. We will rectify though. I am so happy with the results today, oil issues aside, we made 4 runs to 5700rpm before we decided to stop as it wanted more fuel and spark. When we first fired it up he said the air/fuel was of the scale, so he changed the air bleeds and then the jets. He got it where he was happy to start making some pulls. First pull was to 5500rpm, 30' total advance, made 730hp and 750ft/lb torque. Here is that clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsRidwEhZKY The rest was to start putting more fuel into it and run it up to 6000rpm. This is when we found the oil issue. And stopped making changes, as we tried to locate the problem. All that aside, this motor is so smooth in its attitude, where previously I thought it was really cranky. Bill said this will pull nice and smooth off idle on the street. Cheers ---------- Post added at 06:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:08 PM ---------- Second pull was with a touch more fuel and 5800rpm. 770hp Cheers
That thing sounds nice. Deep and throaty! Can't wait to hear how much more it's got. Didn't sound like it strained at all! Tuna
Thanks Tuna. It sounds great. Am really happy with it and spoke to Mike T about it yesterday. He was impressed with the tq figures to date. The difference it made from the first run @5500rpm to the second run @5700rpm with more fuel, 40hp shows us there is a bit more left in this. Mike T suggested I put a sight glass style tube on the side of the pan to see if it actually runs out or we have a problem with pickup. Here is a clip showing it first running an setting the timing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dTXFKyyegM Cheers
