Looking at the HR parts N Stuff rear sway bay kit. Considering the Sphon rear sway bar. I know the reputation of HR Parts N Stuff but have not heard much about the Sphon stuff. The Sphon bar is actually beffier (HR is a tubular bar) (Sphon is a solid bar) and cheaper. The HR bar is 1.25" Hollow Bar and the Sphon is a 1.18" Solid Chrome Molly Bar Also I know the Sphon is a weld in system and the HR is Bolt on. Any feed back on Sphon stuff? Here are the links to both. http://www.spohn.net/shop/1968-1972...ries-Rear-Drag-Sway-Bar-1968-1972-A-Body.html http://www.hrpartsandstuff.com/products/rearend/swaybar.htm Thanks
I bought the HR Parts Bar over the Spohn bar for two reasons: The HR Bar had so many glowing reveiws I wanted the hollow bar to save weight. I am very pleased with the quality and performance of the unit.
Can't speak for the Spohn. We ran an HR bar and it worked great. 1.30 60 ft. on a 9" slick all day long. Plus Paul really supports the Buick racers.
We have run the spoon bar and their adjustable upper and lower arms on the red car for years. Very happy with them.
I have the HR bar on my GS and have had no issues. A solid bar sounds like a lot of extra unwanted weight to me
I have Spohn and it is very good! It is my understanding that the parts are made here in the USA. My rear upper and lower control arms and sway bar are all Spohn. :TU: It is good stuff I tell ya.....
Both are good, and would love a Launch test between the two on the same car like how HR parts n stuff did with stock and theirs. with that being said I'd rebuy a HR parts bar if I was going for Street/drag setup HR bar 1. 1/4(1.25) Hollow Spohn drag bar 1-5/16(1.3125) Solid ..allot stiffer due to bigger number ontop of being Solid vs Hollow IF you also plan on running a front swaybar You'd want a 1 3/8 hollow bar from either hotchkis or DSE if going with HR bar Dont know any solid front bars to match the massive spohn dragbar This is a good thread http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/threads/hr-rear-bar-vs-sphoon-rear-sway-anti-roll-bar.291880/
I've used a lot of spohn stuff over the years. I have their front and rear sway bars, and adjustable uppers. Very high quality and heavy duty stuff. Also ran a lot of their 82-92 f-body stuff. I like to support the smaller businesses when I can. My only complaint with spohn is the red powdercoat. I ordered red thinking it would shake up the all black undercarriage. Those red sway bars can be seen a for miles... Shipping was always fast and the pricing was reasonable.
