Anyone know the schedule of BG? When are time trials? Can you time trial Saturday? What are the payouts for each class? Thanks,
If you don't have a Super 16 car or a fast GN that fits a particular class I wouldn't think too much about what the payouts are.

So I should make up some pie in the sky number to draw people in? What's that all about? I'm just calling them like I see them(and I've seen them ALL). If my being at EVERY GS Nationals isn't support then I don't know what is. It doesn't bother me that there is no noteworthy payout for the regular bracket classes. That has never factored into my attending the Nats and never will but for some people it may make a difference and that was my point. When BS is thrown about the GS Nats or the GSCA I'll defend the club when I know what the real facts are but I won't make up unicorn stories.
While it is true that the bracket classes have always been (and always will be) "for fun," Jim has gotten us some pretty good support for BSA and GSP. Nick
"Just for fun". What a crock of sh#t! I've been to a lot of smaller regional fun races and there were decent payouts for all classes. Dave
Yeah Dave....don't hold back. It would be nice if we raced just for fun but not all of us are in the BG area. 13hr tow each way ($400+ in fuel alone) to race for a trophy???
That is why the northeast gs gn club event at cecil is one of the premier events. Great payouts from great sponsors. This past year the bracket class paid out as much as the quick 16. Both were 1000 to win. They know how to put on a great event with great payouts and make sure everyone gets what they paid for at the gate.
Interesting attitudes. No one ever " paid me off" to have a show car drug across the country for people to enjoy, and share the Buick marque. And sorry, but spending time with my friends and having fun are not a crock of s***! DL
Sometimes I think show car folks and racers are like sailboaters and powerboaters. Both enjoy being at the same place but different perspectives...... If winning money racing is being "paid off", I guess there must be no skill to it.....
I do agree that it is all about the fun and hanging with people also but don't you wish your car show entry fee got you something sometimes. Especially at what 90 or so dollars to show your car to people.
BTW, I'm not against it, Don't get me wrong. Just think the criticism is directed in the wrong place. The guys on the super 16 reunion for example have put in countless of thankless hours for a year begging for sponsors. If the companies all the racers are buying products for can't chip in a few bucks ? How much has Edelbrock, MSD, Hooker headers, ARP, TApef, AMP donated ? I know I've spent tens of thousands from some of these companies building motors and never got so much as a penny off. I'd be happy ( if they were willing) to make a donation to a race in lieu of a small discount . Who want's to step up first ? DL
Don't get me wrong man. I love the comradery. Made a lot of friends over the years that I wouldn't had met if not for the events. I don't expect to get paid for showing up. My point is; most races have a payout of some sort, at least for the winner/ runner up. Dave
Ideally to me anyone bringing a car, race/show what have you to any event wouldn't get charged a gate fee'. Did you know a 1 day ticket to Disney land is $96 Dollars! DL
At Disney though you can take a picture with mickey and Minnie mouse. LOL Btw I don't mind paying to get in at all. It is just nice to know that some of the money goes back to the event. Either way I will be there with 2 cars, trucks and trailers.
