Thanks Todd, I tried to build this bracket as true to the original as I was able to as well as keep it in line with what you may come to expect from a Vintage air bracket. I have had several of their brackets for different makes and models over the years and I feel we got a pretty good match of both original look and sturdy design. Thanks everyone for the interest.
Does anybody know how to get in touch with Longhorn? I sent him a PM and haven't heard back. I NEED a bracket.
Guys, just an update I have 3 more brackets welded ready to ship and spoken for. If anyone else is interested let me know send me a PM, I will get you on the next list.
No...on the one I received anyway...you don't have to move the alternator to the other side! Buick Eric / Oregon :3gears:
Hello All I know it is getting hot out their. Send me a PM if you are interested in these brackets I am busy busy so I don't really have time to be checking this tread, I should get an email notifying me of new PM. I just received a phone call with someone interested in a bracket if I can get a couple more interested I can make a few at a time more efficiently than one at a time.
Tim the bracket is $200 plus shipping. I am in Canada so shipping generally works out to $40-45. No the alternator stays on the passenger side. The bracket was designed using a factory combination AC/alternator mount. you must retain you original alternator tensioner. The aluminum or steel alternator bracket that is bolted to the head will be removed an replaced with the new combo bracket.
The Compressor is mounted to a pivoting bracket. there is a bolt in the front to set the position. the alternator tension is set with the original alternator tensioning arm.
Thanks for the clarification. It was not abundantly clear to me from the other pictures. That looks like a really nice piece.
I just installed this bracket yesterday, and it works great! Since the compressor is mounted in a slightly different position than it was, I need a different length belt. Does anyone here that has already installed the bracket have a recommendation for what belt or what size belt to use? Most of the stores near me don't stock belts that big, so I'd have to order them.
Once you finish the full install some detailed pics of the complete engine in car would be appreciated.
Will do! I had to take the car in to the shop for an unrelated issue, so I haven't had it the last few days. I pick it up tomorrow, and hopefully the belts that I ordered will be arriving later in the day. Whenever I get the proper size belts installed, I'll take some pictures and post what belt I used.
