Just an FYI Never ever ever ever ever... (you get the point) buy a square flange intake from TA... gives you no options.. other than a square flange carb.. (at least not without a trip to the machine shop) Get the Q-jet flange, it's just a simple steel plate to convert it back to a square flange application. No downside at all. I can't recall the last time I bought a square flange intake from TA.. bet it's been 10 years.. ever since this dawned on me one day. Fuel line looks nice Justin.. way to do it right.. :TU: JW
Yup, all you need is this THIN adapter to go from Q-jet opening to square bore, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2732/overview/ To go the other way, as easily, requires this 3/4" adapter, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2692/overview/ or a trip to the machine shop as Justin did. Jacob, call Tim back and get the Q-jet pad, don't burn your bridges.
That was dense of me, guess I shouldn't make decisions after just waking up haha, I guess I was worried about hood clearance but didn't realize all of would take is a thin spacer. I'll call Tim now. Thanks Larry and Jim. Edit: ordered a square bore and it's shipping tomorrow! Such a tease when my motor is in pieces
Thanks Jim, figured it would give me some leeway if I wanted to play with other options later. And it was a ton easier then bending up a custom line. Nice! Let us know how it goes! If you don't start your own thread please post up here. It would be nice to see everyone's experiences and gains with this intake at a combined location.
I started installing my sp3 this evening all radius under the carb pad. Also made all the intake ports the same size still smaller than the gasket .Shooting for friday start up this should living things up a bit . Walter
Yes, I think I can blame spell correct for that one. My phone likes to fill the blank with previously used words
Justin, Nice work on everything; diagnosing fuel delivery issues, and kudos for going ahead with the higher quality fuel line instead of the rubber hose. I had a look at your weather forecast, and frankly it's not so good (I was going to say "it sucks"). Seems to me you're well on your way. Hoping you get some drier weather for the sake of traction, and maybe a little bit more of Mother Nature's "forced induction" with a higher reading on your Barometer! Devon
Thanks Devon, one more thing to adjust and I think I will be able to put a bow on this whole swap. Ken provided some excellent instructions on how to dial in the air flap, fingers crossed it will be the last gremlin that comes out. Weather is terrible here, and it looks to be rain again tomorrow. Hoping for next week! Nice! Hope your install goes smoother then mine!
I think it's a safe bet to say anyone with a performance minded build who is running a parts store replacement pump is having fuel delivery issues, whether they realize it or not. 350 or 455. They are simply not adequate
