Hello, I am switching steering columns in a GS. My replacement column did not have the hub that the rallye steering wheel screws into, so I pulled the one off my old column with a wheel puller. Do I need to hammer the hub back on the replacement column to get it on? This is a first time doing this. Thanks for any help. Rich
Nooooo!!! Don't hammer on the column!!! First thing you want to do before you do anything is install the column in the car. Once its completely installed, you want to place the hub on the splines of the column making sure the splines on the hub mesh together properly with the column. You'll feel it. Once the hub is on, just tighten the 7/8" nut. You don't have do a Conan the barbarian to it. Just get it nice and tight using a 3/8" ratchet. You might want to only snug it down and take the car up the block to make sure the steering wheel is straight. You may need to remove the hub and adjust it a few splines left or right to get the wheel perfectly straight. You'll notice that the white plastic tower that the horn contact goes in, is adjustable left or right so you can get the wheel straight. Once its straight and your happy with the wheel, then tighten the nut down
There is also a notch next to the hole in the hub that you need to line up with the notch on top of the shaft. This will insure the steering wheel lines up straight when installed, as long as the wheel alignment is good.
