A new one or one I've previously read why does it automatically take me to the last entry? I'm choosing the thread from the left side of the page and not the last entry on the right side of the page. Thanks, Doug
I noticed this too. Haven't checked yet, but most likely there is a setting in your profile that allows you to choose the viewing order, newest or oldest, when you open a thread. MAY not be the case though... I'm on another board where this is also the default, and it is not user-changeable. .... Ok, I've checked my user settings and do not see where we can change to seeing the first post of a thread when we open one, instead of the newest post. Kind of annoying with a longer thread that I may not have viewed yet. Hopefully this default can be changed.
For the ones you've previously read, have you tried clicking the little blue dot to the left of the thread title? This should take you to the newest post.
Steve, we are NOT wanting to go to the newest post by default. I don't understand the logic in this being how the software is written. Even if it's a thread I've viewed before, I want to see the first post since my last view. And for a totally new thread, why wouldn't everyone want to read it from the beginning? It might be 2 pages before I get on the board and see it. All this does is result in members posting comments that obviously reflect that they haven't read the thread, which is really annoying.
The blue dot says to "go to first unread message". But that isn't what it does, I just tested it on a thread I've never looked at before. It just goes to the last post.
Does not work that way for me.. I just clicked a thread that I had not read before, and it went to the first post. I personally like it jumping to the first unread post in a thread I have been in before.. I can always scroll up if I want to review. I would hate it if it went to the first post every time, especially in multi-page threads. V bulletin used to allow you both options..click on the thread on the LH side and it went to the first post, and then there was an icon that went to the first unread post. This just skips that second step, and is more intuitive in my opinion. Test another thread Dave, and let me know if it goes to the last post in the thread, or to the first one (on a thread you have not viewed before). JW
