In the off season, instead of swapping gears in the M22 to get the launch ratio to a respectable number, I am selling it and pulling the trigger on a Race Duty Muncie. Jeff (Midwest Muncie) is building one of his M23 for the Street Sleeper. Features a modified Auto Gear Super Case, 12* cut gears C355 forged aluminum mid plate, and a bunch of other goodies. I am choosing the gear set with 1st = 2.99, 2nd = 1.88, 3rd = 1.35 and 4th = 1.0. He is throwing in gear polishing and all de-burring so no break in period needed. I can not use my McLeod hydraulic throw out bearing due to the way it mounts with the mods he does with the front bearing & seal. I am replacing it with a Hydramax hydraulic breaing set up. That ought to fix the 60 ' and 330' times. I can't wait to run this next season. Check this baby out--> https://www.midwestmuncie.com/product/super-duty-m23/ Stay tuned!
I am also considering a M23Z for mine as well, seeing as how my unicorn 5-speed doesn't exist (600 ft-lb rating, quiet, no cutting, no $5k price tag, no 1-year wait...)
Sounds like an awesome box. I've always said we don't really need more gears, just better gear spreads. An M21/M22 close ratio is not beneficial to a Buick. Keep us posted on lead time, delivery and final results.
I ran mine all summer on the street put around 1000 miles on it ,shifts so nice and is so quiet compared to the dog box that was in there ,you will be happy with it
Couldn't have gone any smoother putting it back together in a few hours Saturday. Couldn't test it Saturday and the snow and wind was coming in Sunday so I figured I wouldn't test until next weekend. Well, Sunday morning was cold but nice and the predicted snow and high wind was holding off, so Golfing was first order. That was short lived but fun while it lasted snow flurries started around 10am. Snow was great, blew by, then sunshine and dry a roads dried out so test drive time! Worked great. Stopped for snap shot down the road....
Thread stealer here! Glad to see I am not the only diehard winter golfer!!!! We purchased one of these around black Friday for 99.99 with free shipping. http://www.buggiesunlimited.com/golf-cart/heater-deluxe-white-enclosure-combo-(universal-fit)/29395 Inside the cover it is about 70+ and makes winter golf so much more enjoyable. LOVE the new autogear! Troy
Yeah, those are nice, but, we all pack our favorite antifreeze, mine being Jameson Black Barrell. I made the Dimitris Bloody Mary's for the team Sunday. We usually walk with our pull carts mostly year round unless it is brutal heat or a super long coarse....figure you end up walking the same or further depending on the coarse with a power cart in winter unless you are playing cart path golf...
How is the gear noise in the first 3? I know I will have some but hopefully is not unbearable. It was my main hesitation in buying this one.
My only test drive so far was without the front carpet and shifter boot reinstalled, so it isn't fair to rate it, but it does appear to have a little more of an audible presence that the Rock Crusher it took the job over from....The gear whine is music to my ears.... Once it's all back together and have a few miles on it I'll get some video / audio posted.
Hey Mark, thanks a lot ya bad influence!!! I had a great call with Jeff at MM today, guess what I've got coming in about 3 weeks....
Well played sir! Ya know, I have another mint Mr. Gasket Vgate shifter, pulled out of a '68 Camaro in 1976, like new, complete on the shelf......and the correct '69 up shift linkage levers......if you have a bunch more dead presidents burning a hole in your pocket...
