Looks great! Did you price BFGs and then pick the Coopers? I just priced 235/60/15s for my El Camino and was told the Coopers were about $115 each (about what I expected) but $158 each for the T/As, along with dicey supply. I like BFGs, but I may try Coopers... Patrick
The T/A's are just too expensive. I run Coopers on my F250 and my Jeep. I've never had any problems. I put Milestar Steetsteet tires on my 1965 Mustang. They have a vintage look but they don't make a 255/60/15 or I would have put them on the Buick.
Nice! I just did the same but I did 245/60/15 in the back. Those are tight so I'm surprised you fit 255's in there!
I have Cooper Cobras all around. Much better tire than the BFG's. They ride really nice. They are 44 psi max tires, so I run them at 37 psi. P255/60R-15 Front P275/60R-15 Rear
That looks great! Having any rubbing issues in the rear? I've got 235/60/15's on the rear of my car and I can barely slide a finger between the tire and the lip of the quarter as it is now. I thought anything wider than 235's wouldn't work. How wide are your wheels?
Because they are higher pressure tires. Buick specified 24-26 psi for the tires that originally came on our cars. Those tires were 32 psi max. Max tire pressures in tires has been going up. My 98 Riviera came with 35 psi tires. Buick recommended 30 all around. Tires today are commonly 44 or even 51 psi. No one even looks. Tires are rated to carry a certain amount of weight at a certain pressure. That pressure is basically the same but at a higher pressure. I look at the tire sidewall and I run 85-90% of the rated maximum. The car rides great and handles better. I run 37 psi in a 44 psi max Cooper Cobra on my GS. My 98 Riviera has Yokahama tires that specify 51 psi. I run 43 psi. Both cars ride smooth and handle great.
The wheels are 15x7 with 4 1/2" backspacing. I had these custom-made about 8-9 years ago using original Buick centers. I have plenty of fender clearance.
Did you mount the 275/60 tires on a 15x7 or 15x8 wheel? I think I have enough clearance for a 275 tire.
