Can I take a 200r4 transmission and install an external 4th gear lock-up in it. Its the one that operates off a oil pressure switch and can be turned of/on manually through an electrical switch. I've seen kits however, I think it would be cheaper to just purchase all the pieces separately. Has anyone completed this modification? Thanks Jaye
Im not sure what u are trying to achieve here? I run a b and m controller on my 200 4r. It has as adjustable knob so i can control what vehicle speed it turns on power to the factory style solenoid.
I just had my 200-4R internally grounded when it was assembled by Janis Transmission. I only had to run a hot wire from my fuse box through a toggle switch under my dash and I turn the overdrive lockup on whenever I want to. I normally only engage it at 2200 rpm or over become it drops the rpm below 1700 rpm and my engine lugs and jerks a bit. Roger On The Eighth Day God Created Buick
The b and m has a adapter that screws onto side of trans peedo cable that has 2 wires that run to the cobtroller. Its basically a vss
It is just a pass through, like a very short extension. It has a square pin that goes into the transmission and screws down like a speedo cable and has a square hole on the outside with threads so you can screw down the speedo cable.
Roger that’s what I’m talking about doing, there is a kit that uses an oil pressure switch attached to the 4th gear When fluid pressure from 4th gear pressurized the torque converter will lockup if you have it switched on
