Man Ronnie your all over the map with ideas four by fours burned cars what's next airplanes...just messing around with you...no ideas on 4x4s
I miss our Ramcharger which was very reliable right up until we sold it. My wife needed something smaller when the grandkids came along to be able to get them and their seat contraptions in and out. That thing was trouble free and I like to be drive something different from the crowd. Guess that’s why I have Buicks too.
Jeep cherokee with the straight 6. If you can find one with the full time 4WD transfer case you have a good deal. Parts are cheap and everywhere.
You're not kidding. Had to fab the entire floor, "cab" corners in the jams, and the usual rear quarter patches for this one (done on a budget, so made our own and didn't buy patches). When we pulled the seats out, I was surprised I hadn't fallen through the floor and ended up sitting on the road yet.
My K5 has persevered considering its past life in the military. Lived life in Alaska, overseas, Kansas, Illinois and now Colorado. Currently needs a rocker on the passenger side and a rear quarter panel corner on the drivers.
When I was stationed in California I saw these all the time and they weren't rotted. Could never get one.
My brother bought a k5 on eBay from Colorado. It is a green that leads me to believe it was in the forest service. It has a 350 and a granny four speed. Just have to get one from a place that doesn't salt the roads . I had a 73 k5 when I was un high school. Lots of fun, really poor mileage. The frame was weak I guess as the steering box ripped right off of it. It had a 350/ th350 and a np203 full time fwd t case. We have a 1999 k2500 suburban. 454/4l80e and the np246 tcase. These t cases have a problem with pump rub. Not hard to fix but a hassle. If you can get the price down it is worth it.
Like others have suggested, the I6 Jeep XJ’s are a great reliable choice. Parts are cheap, used parts are plentiful and they’ll get the job done. Grand Cherokees can be found for cheap as well from the same era and drivetrain with a bit more comfort.
