Hi there. I’m a huge 60’s Buick fan but have never had a chance to own one. Now, after a lot of hard work and a few hard set backs, I’m finally in a position to own one. I’ve always loved the 67 Riviera, so I’m on the hunt and need some help. I’m looking for a complete, driving, non vinyl top, no rust, clean 67 Riviera. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Any leads on a 65 64 Riviera or a 65 66 hard top coupe Wildcat or LeSabre would also be appreciated. Thank you
Wish I could help. I have had two 66 GS and one 67 GS Rivieras. I would suggest going for the 66 with the 425 nailhead engine.
I'm obviously biased towards the '67, but I've heard from many '66 owners that parts are *very* difficult to source vs. the '67.
Aside from the subtle differences in badges and grille, is the nailhead the only major difference between the two?
The nailhead is the biggest difference between the '66 and '67, but there are subtle others: 1. front/parking light grille patterns have no center stripe 2. rear taillight trim is painted silver instead of body color 3. interior lock buttons are near rear of door 4. interior seat patterns & horn button are different 5. some '66 (possibly '67 as well) models had manual windows 6. vinyl top may not have been offered in '66 (haven't seen one, only on '67s)
I've got a real nice 67 Riv, turquoise and no vinyl top. Also have a 67 Riv GS that needs restoration. I need to (reluctantly) part with the former so that I can someday restore the latter. Bruce BQUICKS2@yahoo.com
I had a couple '66's many years ago and hope to have another someday. I'd have to agree - I don't know exactly why and certainly wouldn't turn away the right '67, but I'd prefer a '66 over a '67 and my own personal preference, it would have to be a GS and have buckets/console. Thanks - I never knew the subtle differences and I've also never seen a '66 with a vinyl top. Again, personally I wouldn't want one with a vinyl top.
Nice looking car. How long ago was it redone? I’m assuming it has been redone anyway. How long have you had it?
I've had since 2003. Came from Boise, Idaho. Not sure when re-painted. Interior as new was re-done as well...wasn't bad but someone owed someone money and it got totally done. Engine compartment is so original that I didn't want to repaint anything. It's like history. Chrome excellent. I LOVE the color!
FYI -- Gary posted this 68 yesterday (I know not a 67...) https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/buick/riviera/2138407.html?refer=alert
A guy from Ohio bought mine back around 1985 or 86. White strato bench, cornering lamps, electric antenna, a/c, cruise control. Sweet cruiser.
