I am in the process of converting my Dads 455 from a dominator, to a Holley 4500 sniper kit, it has a 6AL2 Programmable box and the distributor is locked out with a Petronix in it. It looks like the Petronix is burned up, so before I buy another one and replace it I was wondering what others were using. I plan on using the sniper to control timing and fuel. The distributor is locked out, and all I need it to do is send the crank signal. Any feedback would be appreciated. Gary Lewis
The Sniper will only control timing on a small cap HEI (computer controlled), Holley Dual Sync or Holley Sniper Hyperspark distributor. None of these are available for Buicks. Use the Programmable 6AL2 to control timing and pair it with an MSD Billet distributor that plugs directly into the 6AL2. If you prefer to keep the existing distributor just replace the electronic module and connect it to the 6AL2 the old fashioned way. This is an example of the frustration of the aftermarkets and Buick. Holley makes the above mentioned distributors for Chevy, Ford, Mopar, Pontiac and Oldsmobile but not Buick. WTF!
I just got done converting to the Sniper Quadrajet and that can certainly control timing when paired with an MSD billet distributor that is locked out and paired with an MSD 6 series ignition. That's on my to do list. Check the manuals and video links on the Holley web site for all the info. You can fire the MSD with points in a stock distributor (condenser is removed). Super simple hook up. Points don't burn. I usually adjust my point gap with a feeler gauge twice a decade since the rubbing block slowly wears down.

I have that one and I much prefer it over the Pertonic with the magnets that fall out and the gap needs to be set.

Yes, that is the one I use on our Stock Appearing Stage 1 and it's the one I sell on my website. They're 100% Stock Appearing, simple and THEY WORK. Much better track record than Pertronix. (Just Google them and you'll see what I mean)
These are OUT OF STOCK EVERYWHERE. UNLESS someone has them in stock. There is nothing going to be available until 7/3/19, MAYBE.
Thanks for the replies, I am going to test my Petronix tonight to see if it bad. If it is I will try to track down one of the kits mentioned above, it looks like a nicer unit.

I have asked my rep that same question and the Majority of there products are made right here in the USA which is why I decided to stock there products. The kits are made here and they have a patent on them. M & H sells the same kit but they're all coming from L.L. Same with American Auto Wire. They're all coming from L.L., just re-packaged in some cases. Great product, I've sold close to 100 of them in the last 3 years and have never had an issue with them. I hope they're back in stock soon. This is a simple product that works really well! .
I’ve posted this before but I’ll post it again. I bought the Lectric Limited setup from Todd and it is foolproof. Easy to install and looks perfectly stock. Never an issue. And because it fits like stock, you can carry a set of points around just in case. Hopefully they’re available again soon.
