This SBC only did 357 hp with Summit heads. As a 383, it didn't impress either with AFR heads. If TA got 480 hp outta 355 cubes, and its only the beginning, I see a good future for the 350 Buick with TA heads
Exactly....... Sean’s are at Chris’s place for porting, where did the rest of them go??? Why no update on the heads boys??
To be fair, it only had a 650 Holley, and a .450 lift flat tappet cam in its 357hp form. This is the kit they used according to their site. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ses-3483002650/ Those pistons are 9.5:1 at best.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-162108/ This is them. I assume summit would have the flow specs.
My build is progressing. Currently having the crank work done. Next steps will be decking the block and fitting the pistons.
While I can appreciate the passions involved here, let's not go overboard and start bashing members personally for their opinions, misguided as they may be.. We all have a right to be wrong and to have an opinion... I might suggest more development and hands on work, and less whining... lest the 350 crowd be cast in the same negative mold that was laid on the V-6 guys back in the day. I have a motor for these heads in the shop right now, and will reserve all judgments until I get the parts in my hands, look at the product, flow it, improve it if required, and build and dyno test the engine. Exact same thing we did with the 455 Stage 1 head when it first came out. Not likely to be a full port deal, my customer is shooting for 425-450 Hp, with a mild roller cam. You can take that info when it comes out, and compare it to the more involved TA testing, along with anything else that comes along, and use that to guide your buying choices. But let's not turn this into a bash fest... JW
Greatly appreciate your comments Jim. I have a question. What grind and CR are you using for that 350 build? I will need something similar I think. Should I PM you? Jim
You are correct Jim, the 350 chev, 289, 302, 351W ford all have 4.00, the 340 dodge is 4.040 bore vs SBB 3.800 bore and the push rod pinch are both a big issue to start with.
Not that far into it yet Jim, but I will be happy to share the info and results with you when we get there.. JW
