Hi all, Curious if there's anything special about a ST400 nailhead bell housing BS coded trans and what is the going rate for a core? Regards,
It's better than getting the shaft like the guy in the thread above this one. http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/i-got-the-shaft.355053/
There is value to someone with that bolt pattern, and also with a switch pitch oil passage. BOP cases are far more common. Bruce Roe
I was trying to find the things that were upgraded for the 65 GS transmission... found this: The 1965 Riviera Gran Sport benefited from an improved transmission introduced a year earlier: the Super Turbine 400. Dick Sweeney notes that the Super Turbine 400 featured a reinforced valve body. These transmissions also benefited from recalibration that allowed the Gran Sport to shift at higher rpm. The three-speed Super Turbine 400 featured four pinions in each planetary gearset, versus the usual three. from Hemmings, but that is why it is a desirable unit! (He said unit )
Hi, Thanks for the info, any ideas on what they're going for? I got it with a 425 core so no clue on what condition it's in. Regards,
Since condition & workings are unknown it's only value is core value which would be around $100.00 give or take.
65-66 nailhead st400 cores go for about $250 from what I have witnessed. a 65 Riv GS core probably has a bit more value
Hemmings, huh? All 400s have 4 pinions, why would that massive cast iron valve body need to be reinforced? He should have talked about its switch pitch feature. Bruce Roe
Hi, Yes a 425 nailhead engine, MW code, 704 casting number, rwd trans, Guy I got it from said it came from a Riviera but never know if its factory or replacement Regards,
