And the key is, race motor. At 12.5:1, that cant run pump gas. It's a very cool setup but unless someone wants to build a badass sbb race car or lives where they can buy 100+ octane easilly, it will be a hard sell. You probably dont want too, but I think you'd be able to sell it easier buy selling every piece separate. I'd pay $1000 for just the block with all them oiling mods. Maybe 2k if you still have the heads. Maybe come tax time. Sorry if it seems like I (we) are teasing you. I want to see this engine go to a good home but its a niche engine even in stock form.
Yes and no. I have ran an iron-headed big block on pump gas,street-driven,with 12:1 compression. There is a variety of factors that can make that possible or not. It would be easier to do it with aluminum heads though.
What's the stroke on this motor. With .042 head gaskets and un-surfaced 58cc iron heads, 6cc valve reliefs, zero deck, you probably won't have 12.5 Get the stroke and calc it out.

Or keep the compression up and run E-85 with the more streetable cam. Or when ordering the TA heads ask TA if they can CNC the chambers bigger?
On the 12:1 engine I mentioned above,I enlarged the chambers to get to 70cc,to bring the compression down to 12:1.
Yeah, it's definitely a nitch piece. I knew that when I built it. It would be a sweet set up for someone, and I don't plan on taking it off the market for a little while/until it sells. I have no interest in parting it out. My plans were to run it on E85. Lots of talk from the 350 buys about building performance stuff, this would be the easy button for someone.
If the bore is 3.830 and it’s 362 cubic inches then it’s got a 3.93 stroke (80 thou added stroke). this is a great engine. I think I had $2000 in machine work on my last block, it adds up.
With those flat top pistons I would estimate 5 cc of piston dish. If using a 50 thou thick head gasket (Scotty Brown sells the MLS high HP gaskets), with a 58 cc head chamber then 11:1 is expected. With alum heads and the right cam that could work fine on pump gas.
I agree Sean. Someone could put this on pump gas. People run the flat top 3.8 pistons in 350s on pump gas. A good cam, timing curve, and you should be good. With aluminum heads it wouldn't be very difficult
I get this for comp with iron 58cc heads, .042 fel blue gaskets. Not much more than mine. Like Wheelz says: Thumbody buy this!
Yeah, my heads had a 53cc chamber which is what I was doing the math with. With a stock cc head and a .050 thick head gasket I think someone could use pump gas.
There’s a slight variable depending on how far down the top ring is,but that chart above give us a range.
I wish I had some way to use it but I don't need anything that strong in my street-driven stock 4-speed car. I'd need to change cams, deeper than 3.08 gears and get the compression down quite a bit. GLWS
