It's a shame that white GSX just don't get any respect.. good buy for someone.

Seemed like a good deal Frank. I assume NOM but still... Unless there was a lot more (or less) to it than meets the eye I'd have been super proud to own it at that price.

The white GSX which just sold at the Mecum auction in June, is coming up for auction again this weekend in Indy. I suspect the owner is hoping to get more than the $77 it sold for a few weeks back.

    Cheers

There's a Saturn yellow X lot S153 at Mecum Indy also. Sam Davis' car is lot K60.

Do we know for certain that the White, now ex-Vannoy, car is NOM?

Furthermore, how on Earth do you ask questions to the owner about a car that is heading to auction? Is the owner even in the loop on these deals? All of these auctions / eBay etc. are really frustrating to a traditional old school real car guy like me. I have missed many nice cars in the last while simply because I am not comfortable buying a car at an auction nor will I ever buy at an auction. Collectors and investors sure ruined this hobby, cars move like securities now, the passion has left 95% of the hobby. Anyway... mini-rant over :).

My hope for these Vannoy cars (and the 2 1972 GS455's I missed last year) was that someone would have buyer's remorse or weren't really interested in the cars anyway just an impulse buy or they forgot to check with their wife before buying and that the cars would pop up again but hopefully not at an auction... like this one did...

Usually they get flipped by a dealer. There's a 71 GS 455 blue convertible no paperwork, Could've started life as a 350 Believed to be non-numbers matching on Hemmings.com the dealer Bought it for 26k an now trying to sell it at 45K. Start a 50 K thank reality setting in no one interested at that price and no documentation.

I remember the previous ‘bubble’ where people had credit but no cash, so the $27k auction buy went to a big dealer who’d finance it at $45k. People are dumb about financing-jet skis, ATVs, boats, muscle cars, motorcycles, etc.

You can bet if it is not announced (advertised) as numbers matching it is not. Now you even have to be careful with that wording, best to ask if it is original born with engine, trans, ect.

And you’ll get them who will straight-up lie as well or side-step questions. My x-wife ended up with one of my cars, posted it for sale here and on facebook. When asked if the car “has ever been in an accident?” She replied “it HAS no body damage or rust” knowing full well the car had been totaled, (@1996), bought back from insurance company (by me), fixed at a friends’ body shop and returned to the road. 305C9CAD-C863-4BE0-A8C3-EA98A67FDE4E.jpeg

The yellow GSX is currently at $55K, while the white GSX is a solid $2.00.

What really gets me is the number and frequency of auctions. It seems that there is one every month. If you don't get the car you want in June, then just wait until July.

    Cheers

The white GSX just sold for $72K before fees. Does anyone know anything about this car that could explain what is holding back the value on this car?

    Cheers

My buddy is at the auction and looked at car. It’s a numbers matching and said it looked really nice. Buy for $77 at Vannoy and then haul to Indy to get $79 before fees. That would suck.
