I'm thinking of swapping over some of my bulbs to l.e.d style so my taillights are better seen at night and my cluster is better lit. Does anybody have any experience with these will these bulbs melt the tailight lenses or anything in the dash
LED's do not produce any heat. This is why I changed ll the bulbs in the lights of my travel trailer over.
That I couldn't tell you. An electronic flasher isn't expensive and doesn't rely on resistance to work, so, if you have a problem, that would be the way to go

Been installed for a year no issues. The OEM flasher won't flash, it is not faster. The LED does not load the circuit enough to heat up the flasher. Go with electronic - they work with both led and filament. Search on the site. There is a long thread that discusses all the available lights.
Hey @buicksWILD just go up on Amazon, way less. I used Yokim bulbs for the dash. Be sure they are NOT polarity sensitive so you don't have to fiddle behind the dash.
Thanks, I did a search and most of the post were about retrofitting led strips in the tailight lense. I just need a bulb for the rears.
I should have mentioned @buicksWILD be sure to get RED bulbs for the tail lights -- if you use white they will look pretty white (so darn bright that the red lenses wash out...). The link @12lives gave you is perfect -- I used those for the 1157 and the same brand for 1156 replacements. I found that as long as I left the front turn signal bulbs as incandescent my old flashers still worked as those bulbs created enough load. But I know others that have had issues. Remember you have separate flashers for the turn signals and the emergency flashers.
I did this 2 1/2 years ago. Documented it in a sticky that is at the top of this forum, complete with pictures and links to parts. I did not do the dash because they are generally too bright and don't dim well. So I installed these bulbs and flasher in the car a few days ago. Took it out for a drive and after about 15 minutes the turn signals stopped working. The tailights and brake lights stayed on but no signal lights. Stopped at the house and turned off the headlights tried the turn signals again and they worked for a second or two before completely malfunctioning. The front turn signal bulbs are still the original ones. I haven't physically inspected them yet. But what might have went wrong?
Ok so the front turn signals do turn on with the switch pulled up to the first stop. When i pull the headlight switch all the way out they cut off as they normally do. But when I hit the turn signals they blink for a second or two then stop. The light on the dash does not turn on and the flasher does not click.
That sounds like a bad ground to me. I keep a few alligator clips around to ground/jump things for testing. With old cars, the grounds and wiring are always suspect. A quick test is to put the old bulbs back in to see if they work. Or replace the old flasher. It might not flash but the bulbs should light and not flash. Does your electronic flasher have a ground wire? Mine did and it works fine as long as it is grounded.
The one I initially ordered didn't but I ordered one that does last night. I'll try the old flasher and bulbs today, thanks.
