what do you guys use for covering of wires. like tach wires and so forth under the hood? i thought about some colored hose and split it with a razorblade. i know i can get that corrugated stuff but it looks terrible to me. id like something that stays clean but looks nice and neat under the hood so braided may be out of the question. i also just dont want to tape it up.
I like the braided "Chinese Handcuff" stuff. (Various diameters available) I measure and cut to length. Push it on, it expands, then pull it tight over the wires. In some cases I will use a small length of heat shrink over the ends, usually if I cut and do not "melt" the ends (to prevent fraying) due to terminals that will not allow it to slip over the wire(s). It looks good, and is neat and tidy. ( I get it off FleeBay) For several wires or the harnesses, I use the plastic/vinyl wire harness wrap (no adhesive) and tie the end as did the factory, but for single wires, or a few, and in some places I want some better abrasion protection, I use the braided stuff above.
well my only thing with that is its not split down the middle and it gets dirty. ive thought about it but thats my thing if i want to take one wire out or add one i have to pull it all apart.
yeah i just dont want it to looked riced out lol. i guess i could use red to match the motor and plug wires. something stainless would look nice but idk what kind of tubing i could use that flexs and looks aluminum.
Look under pneumatic tubing by SMC or Festo for example 3mm or 5mm. They likely have gray or smoke colored.. Polyurethane!
Gotcha. There is a similar cover that is split and has good overlap and retention, so you could add or remove wires as needed and remove it to clean it in soapy water. (I just could not find a source for it and ran across the other when I needed it)
