I'm not sure I would trust all that weight to just those tiny bolts....intake threads especially aluminum ones strip out all the time. I pulled ours out countless time as an engine/tranny combo. I ended up just leaving a big shackle bolted through the rear of the block and had a hook that would go onto 2 intake bolts on the other corner of the block, used another shackle through 1 of the links to keep it balanced up never had any issues. We got to the point where dad and I could have the engine and trans out in about 45 minutes to an hr. An extra slip yoke makes the best trabny plug.....hard to knock out when it rubs the firewall than the cheap plastic sleeve tubes that never really fit the seal well to begin with.
Using the carb. mounting flange bolts is not a problem. The bolts just need to be tight & the correct length. The problem comes when the bolts are not tight to the manifold/mounting plate & then they will twist & break. AND, don't use grade 8 bolts as they are too hard & will snap/break before grade 5 bolts.
Cool......I picked up a 76 Buick Regal 350 4bbl motor...I'm hoping this will fit right in, hook up to th350 tranny....
you can just about place the engine/trans completely vertical. way easier to use than the sling and chains, and they dont add a foot of stuff so the hoist isnt as high in the air.
