What do you mean? Im guessing the inside of your intake is black..... That could mean incorrect jetting.... Im not a Holley or idelbroke guy so I cant help you. FWIW there is no such thing as bolt on out of the box that works... Carbs NEED to be set up for the motor that its going on.
You can also put the overflow hose into a jar of water when the engine is started cold and see if bubbles come out. According to the chassis manual that is a good way to test for exhaust leaking into the cooling system. Nothing to take apart and simple to test.
I ran the #s on the carb .says it's a 570cfm .I'm sure it needs to be tuned.after it's warm you have to hit the gas pedal for it to start.
I appreciate everyone's responses like I said I know my way around a wrench but I was raised In a eara of jap cars and computers. But as I get older I just love the old school stuff.so I am just trying to get some knowledge from the old timers!
Like I said weirdest Rad in my life......... My rads all my cars & trucks are Crossflow rads... All of them have top hose on one side tank,,,, bottom hose on other... Your hoses are on the same tank.... Thats not even a down flow...... Down flowers are top and bottom tanks top hose is usually in the center or in the bottom on the opposite corner..
Well that explains why its weird looking. Personally I dont care for it. When I need to remove the coolant for system I remove the cap and place a hose in all the way to the bottom of rad and pump the coolant out.... ZERO mess......
