Well, finally getting ready to prep the 67 GS400 for paint. Originally was an Ivory with a black vinyl top. Since the top trim is missing and the engine is not original, I'm thinking chosing a different color won't be too bad. I ended up ordering a gallon of Shadow Turquoise. I think it will look pretty good on this body style. Does anyone else have their GS in that color? I've only been able to track a few picks, most are older. I'll be pulling the seals and all the trim off to help the wallet a bit. I'll clean up the trim and repaint the grill and headlight buckets myself. Definitely excited. Beats the color it currently has. Overall the car is very straight with no signs of rust. Just two bubbles that can easily be cleaned up. Going with TCP Global restoration shop 2 stage Urethane
I used 1966 paint code wa3495 shadow turqoise on my 67 ragtop. The 67 shadow turquoise is a shade darker. Heres a pic of the 66 code. This pic shows how the color changes in different levels of light. Its a hard color to photograph
Ps u said u bought a gallon and Paint brands may vary in density but 5 quarts barely was enough to spray my cars external and theres no top to spray. And it was sprayed by a professional that wasnt wasteful. I did the jambs at home and prob used another quart
Ahhh no wonder I kept seeing different shades, just thought it was the sun hitting the car differently. I already ordered the 67 version. I don't mind it being a bit darker but I hope it still looks good. That looks amazing!
Theres another 67 on here Thats shadow turquoise also with a black top. I believe hes in Missouri. Car is beautiful hopefully he will post you a picture
Just received the paint today. I removed as much as the trim as possible, need to remove the door handles, locks , and the rear bumper. I also sent the front bumper out to chrome, $650 eating into the budget -_-. The car is at the body shop. Luckily it's super straight with no rust other than 2 pinholes. I can't wait to see the color on it. I have not seen many 67 skylarks or GSs to compare to but I'm excited
My 67 GS is painted 1966 pontiac marina turquoise. My car is not complete yet and the paint isn't fully buffed, but I will post a pick if you want.
Your car is going to look awesome painted that color, can't wait to see it finished! Don't forget to have your painter paint the tail light surround satin or semi-gloss black. Check out this tread for more info.......https://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/67-gs-blacked-our-around-taillights.362876/#post-3126061
Yes! I actually went over that with him as well. I don't know they had that panel black until I saw the thread. He's going to call me to come take a look as he works on it.
