    That is just so sad.
Hope you get another GS, and a nice one.
That motor of yours may have been a nice benchmark roller, alum headed N/A 350.

Will be looking for a new car soon. So the motor has a home, not just an engine stand in the garage. Waiting on the buyout from the insurance then I’ll strip the old car. Then to look for a 70-72 with a solid body.

Glad he is ok & so sorry to hear about such a rare car being totaled. I rolled my '72 GS 350/auto in '85 (on the way home from the Nationals) & landed on the roof. Glad we (& you) didn't have a convertible.

More Pictures from my machinist. He wasn’t happy with the valve train geometry so he added lash caps so the roller of the rocker arm stays to the center of the stem.
He also recommended adding additional coolant lines outside from the rear of the intake to the front and crossing them side to side. It’s something he has done in pro stock to keep the temperature even throughout the head. What stem size are those valves?

There 11/32 I believe that’s what TA puts in their aluminum heads.

More reason for the lash caps.

Having any good luck finding another car Steve?
I'd like to hear that aluminum headed motor's music pretty soon...:)

Been in contact with someone with a 71 GS for sale in SC 70K on the clock. Not in a rush and have to get the old one out of the garage. It’s still difficult to look at especially for my son.

Thanks Mark. Physically he’s fine, but he’s still upset about totaling the car. He’ll feel better when we acquire the next one and heard that small block roar. I might even let him drive it. LOL

Yes, I can imagine the drained feeling you & your son must have about the whole ordeal.
One day hopefully everything will be better...:)

Well my machinist has me off the back burner, still haven’t found another 72 worth buying locally. Had some close calls out of state but it’s a hard thing to do when you can’t drop everything to look at a car 12-16 hours away and airfare is too expensive. Motor should be completed in few weeks once I get more stuff out to him that’s in my garage. He marked the balancer at 90° intervals and made the timing tab slightly adjustable. Hoping to be back in action next year. Those look similar to my pistons, Auto Tec??

Those are super duper pistons Mark.
Look like non-semetrical valve notches unlike autotecs.

You know they spelled my last name wrong when they laser etched the underside right below the pin?
    It says MarkDemco:rolleyes:
It’s kinda creepy actually, it’s like seeing your name on a headstone and your still aliveo_O
When I’m gone and the next person opens the engine up, there going to wonder “who is THAT guy?”
LOLOLOL, there going to think it’s a piston manufacturer :p:p:p
