Hi, I am looking to get back into a Buick. I am on the West Coast in Canada so if the car is not in Canada I will be using TFX and Escrow if the border is still closed. I will pay all shipping and escrow fees. Must: 44637 car Turbo 400, column or console doesn't matter. PS, PB (disc preferred, drum ok) Born with engine, transmission and differential. Born with major ancillary parts (manifolds, carb and distributor). Original body panels, absolutely no repop or jobber panels. No major repop parts (air cleaner assembly, coolant over-flow tank, etc. must be GM). Local small show worthy. No rust perforation, trunk must be clean. Must have documentation / pedigree, the more the better. Option load must match the factory build sheet, the less changes here the better but some minor adds may be ok. Spoiler / hood tach on a non-GSX is a no go. Any adds that are difficult to undo i.e. hood pins etc. are also a no go. Putting a power brake booster on a manual brake car would be ok if the job looks factory. No project or severe "patina" cars. Flexible: Original paint preferred will consider high quality older repainted car. Original unrestored preferred will consider older nice but not over the top restoration. Driver quality preferred – no trailer queens or chassis sticker and paint dab cars. Body work and paint – minor road rash on the lower body / leading hood edge, small dents / scrapes / door dings etc. on original cars is perfectly fine but less so on restored cars. Interior – Clean original preferred, minor rips in seats / headliner are fine on original car but less so on restored car. Absolutely no non-factory weaves / poor recovers. Replaced package tray or headliner ok. Colour – Prefer no white / browns / tans / yellows / creams / burgundy unless the car is truly a stunning unrestored original. White ok if it is a GSX. Engine – prefer base 455 for the lower cost but Stage 1 ok. Minor ancillary parts – starter, alternator, water pump, radiator, suspension etc. prefer original parts but if they have been replaced with jobber replacements that is not a deal breaker. Normal wear / maintenance items (brakes, ignition wires, belts, hoses, ignition coil, battery cables, shocks, fuel pump etc.) can be long gone I don’t care about originality on these items but always nice if they are still there. Price - Depends on condition & options. Will possibly consider excellent 71 and 72 examples. 71 cars will need bulletproof documentation. I am possibly open to nice convertible cars but a hardtop is preferred. Please PM me with what you have and we can go from there. All discussions will be confidential at my end.
Nice description of exactly what you are (& aren't) looking for! This is why modified cars, while one can do w/their car as they please, are tougher to sell. Good luck w/the search. It's out there!

Is that the one Joe restored with the painted top? Seems there were 2 similar ones up in that area for sale recently. If so, the OP would be wise to consider it. Was/is a beauty.
That is a really good example. The disc brake conversion looks factory correct with the correct hold off valve, not like the aftermarket ones with the non-stock prop valve plumbed in, so that is refreshing. A few adds (tilt and radio) aren't deal breakers, I eat a lot of biscuits and sausage gravy so tilt is nice actually. Some trunk patch work, that is ok if done nice. It is a restored car, I prefer a driver car but this one is not over restored at least. I am afraid to ask how it was before the restoration because it sounds like maybe this one was pretty nice as is and shouldn't have been restored? A moot point now of course. I didn't say in my giant list anything about AC because it is not a deal breaker but I prefer non-AC again not a big deal but that is something I don't really want. The biggest issue I have with this car, and I really need to get over this because I am seeing it all the time and I will never get a car if I don't come to terms with it, is the addition of the passenger side mirror. That is what I characterize as a difficult thing to back out, especially with a base / clear paint job so, it would have to stay like that. I know, it seems like such an innocent and frankly functional addition to the car but it just grinds me somehow. This is a nice car no question and I really like it so yes, if it were available, it would be a potential candidate for sure assuming I can get over the mirror.
Truly a beautiful car. Factory painted roof, blue base interior, restored by someone who knows these cars intimately.
We all have our preferences (I like low option & esp. factory manual steering GS's) so no criticism meant here at all but just curious why, esp. since it was available as a dealer installed option? I'll probably put one on my very low option '70 350 4-sp (I'll prob. even delete the radio & remote mirror options) just as I did on my last one & will likely add one to my low option Stage 1 4-sp. which does have the requisite remote mirror (seems like they almost all did). The two criticisms/objections I hear on them are that the Tri-Shield isn't mirrored (no pun intended) and that if the car has a remote that the housings aren't the same size. Neither bothers me enough to not install one but as I said, we all have those things that bother us.
For sure, no worries and no offense taken and I agree 100% everyone has different opinions on this stuff and I respect all car guys in this matter. Here goes: 1 - It is not a factory option, it was not available. Yes it is a dealer option but it was not a factory option. 2 - Worse... for me and this is just a personal taste thing... as functional as it is I just do not like the look. It looks wrong to me. GSX and later year factory sport mirrors on the 71-72 look great, love them. Body color or chrome sport mirrors on 70-71 Cudas look great... but this reverse geometry non-sport driver side mirror on the passenger side just doesn't sit right with me. The size difference you mention also irks me. So in the end, it is a double whammy for me... it is not factory and I don't even like it. The ultimate irony here, not at all lost on me, is after a week of driving my daily driver around (a pickup truck), when I would hop into my muscle cars (check sig) to cruise on weekends I am always glancing at the "passenger mirror" space because every truck I have owned has a passenger mirror and I miss it... it is really helpful for lane changes and parallel parks.
I understand your points completely - I'm the same way on the "factory" manual steering - Sure any car can easily be converted & it would look 100% orig. but it's not the same. Oddly, I'm not a huge fan of sport mirrors exc. on GSX'S & glad my '71 came w/chrome - Remote & I'll be adding a right side.
