I have the turn signal stuff out of the way. I just cannot figure how to remove the lock cylinder. I do not have the key. Any how too on this would be helpful. Selling tomorrow. 72 lark
Ok so I found the key. Still need to remove it. I am not having luck with a flat head in the spot most videos say is the locking tab.
Sometimes you have to break through the pot metal to see the tab. I've used YouTube for this in the past with pretty good luck.
The videos look like a later column. Same way to remove the lock cylinder? The first one mentions a set screw.
I think there is a set screw on the later ones. The one in the video is basically the same one as a GN.
Right, but the OP has a 72 Skylark. There is a spring clip he has to depress, or pull on the remove the lock cylinder, correct?
Yes. I think there is more than enough info posted for the op to figure it out. My point was that even tho it's an AMC, it's a GM column
Smartin said it. Sometimes casting flash will cover the tab you need to press on. You need to break through the casting flash to release the tab. Both my 71 and 72 had flash covering the tab
just did this yesterday on my 73 ignition wouldnt turn no matter what i did, that small rectangular slot in the picture you have to use a flat blade screwdriver and push in there and pull on the lock at the same time, autozone new lock 16.00 bucks all back together works perfect.most of the gm columns from late 60s to 80s are all the same to do.
Dudes. Idk why this never updated me like it used to. I did endup having to break through that spot to get the cylinder out. Good to see all the good ole guys still helping out. Thanks yall.
