Got my best 60' so far
But she started laying down 'bout half track, then recovered, Im thinking "Just shut off you SOB!"
Tried again to see if it would repeat, second pass I got my best 60' a 1.90 I let it auto shift to second 5800 rpm, rpm climbing again, then she starts laying down again in second gear right before the 2-3 shift, just like the first pass.
Oh well, LOTS of cars there tonite, fast cars, my second pass in the right lane was a lime green S 10 pick up, ran a 10.0 something.
I hate going to the track after work, I feel rushed, when I was airing up the DR's to come home, the announcer was saying " if you have street tires dont try to run in the slick class, dont try to round robin, or you'll be warned" Im thinking "thats just what I did asshole"
First pass I was in the right lane. Second pass I was in the left lane.

I think drag radials are not considered street tires.

They're DOT legal, and was told at Norwalk, that they're NOT considered slicks, you can run in the "street tire" classo_Oo_O

Forgot to mention, on the hour and 15 minute ride home, I got on it a few times, no issues, pulled hard thru all three gears:rolleyes:o_O:mad::cool::confused:

both runs ran the same in the 1/8 you sure it was laying down. 1.90 60 ft in a 350 is too slow. I am getting the same thing since I changed the trans to the 2004r and went to a 3000 stall from the 3500. 1.90 60 ft it is too dang slow I want to change that convertor to at least 3300. Or get that 410 gear or both and that solid lifter cam I bought.

Did you test the car on the way to track to make sure it was running ok? At least 1st and 2nd gear to be sure all is good Rt.14 is a long rd with plenty of spots to test out.

Well now you know letting the car shift by itself at 5800 is weak. This aint no 455 you got to spin that little sucker to get that heavy car going. You have the roller cam and good rods and pistons, you have better than I do I never spun under 6 grand.
Spin that thing to 6500 and the times will come down.

You 350 guys let this be a lesson to ya You Got to get the car out of the hole quick to get out front of your competition. 1.75-1.80 60 fts get you there. 1.90 does not I know I have this now and I know the difference.

    gotta go

Yes, it was slowing at the top of second gear, maybe it was in third already, dont know, then it would recover.
Not sure if its fuel, actually felt like the timing was retarding then recovering.

LOL, yeah Rt.14 is a LOOOOOONG rd for sure, to much traffic on the way out there to test, tested on the way back, but its sketchy in the pitch black, on a two laner that goes up and down, left and right.

    Obviously:rolleyes::rolleyes::p:p
No sense trying to wind it tighter knowing its going to lay over/downo_O
You make it sound like the 350 is a weedwacker engine:p:p:p:p:p:p

Im going to try Thompson on Oct 23, its a Saturday Morning, I'll be rested, and there will be plenty of daylight.
Check my float level, and advance weights/springs.
A 4000 stall JW convertor would be fun too:D

Corvette hyd rollers don't seem to have any issues twisting up to 7k...
Wonder what brand the General uses?

    Let Pam drive your car....:D:D

Need more rear gear.. I tell guys drag racing 350's that if they are serious about their ET, then 3.90 is the lowest numerical ratio they should consider.

Your 3.42 is a moderate performance big block ratio.. a good compromise for a non OD trans street car, but you have to be realistic about 60' expectations.. I would say 1.7- 1.8's would be doing pretty good, with one of my converters. So their might be a little left on the bone in your combo.

350 dual purpose (street/strip) cars love the 4.10/200R4 combo.. and I build a great 3800 stall triple disc lockup converter for them.

Ir it was laying over because of lifters, it would be banging and popping, most likely, and certainly would not "come back".
I think a fuel pressure gauge is in order here.. you might be sucking an air bubble into the pickup on the launch, that you would not experience when the car is moving already.

    3,800. Perfect! That's what I would re-stall mine to.

The only difference between last season and this season at the track is this time I had my KN Extreme air flow lid on top of my air filter and drop base, last year I had the correct lid for the drop base.
You think the Extreme lid disrupts airflow in a negative way? I’ve heard engine builders and racers saying thato_O

Mark, I ditched my filter top for the original chrome lid. Went to a 3-1/2" tall filter also.
I think the underhood bracing might cause turbulence. I don’t run the underhood dusty insulation either.

Check your entire fuel line for engine or exhaust heat. Move the lines and insulate them as needed. Had that same issue myself in the past.

Yes I heard that too about those lids by K&N You Always got to start with what you had the last time you were at track. then make adjustments

JW has it exactly right. I couldn't have said better myself .
Wish you had those convertors when I did my trans in 2005. I at least did not know about it then. I have mine at 3000 and it is too low. I run the Pro Torque convertor per Vince Janis.

JW is right there too 3800 stall, lockup an that 410 gear THAT WILL be the recipe for a very hot street 350 Then add that 100 shot!!

What is going on with the sock in gas tank has it been changed?

No sock, no nothing, it’s a 1/2” pick up and all the way to the RobbMc fuel pump it’s 1/2” line

Ima switch back to the correct cover for the drop base air filter, see if that brings it back into shape.
Before I was able to shift at 7 grand if I wanted.

I never run with an air cleaner at the track, remove it. Just take out the center hood insulation.:)

Too bad you don't have a fuel pressure gauge.
