First post was in members rides, not sure if i am doing this correct or not... Here is my 66 LeSabre, dubbed "Sally" by daughter shortly after we got the car about 6 years ago. Started as a cheap way to cruise around in something you don't see everyday with my kids. When the 340 & ST-400 gave up on life, we decided we would "do a little work" to Sally so she was more dependable & drive-able. Still not sure exactly how it happened, but ended up massaging the firewall & tunnel to fit a LS6 (with a little work done) & 4L65E. Suspension got the ridetech air ride treatment w/ coolride bags, upper & lower rear strong arms & air management. Brakes were upgrade w/ dual master cyl, hydroboost & disc brakes. Exhaust is 2.5" duals w/ flowmaster HP's dumped before the rear axle. Interior i got really lucky & stumbled onto a saddle power bucket interior from 65 Wildcat rag complete with buckets, rear seat, door panels, column, console & shifter, matched my interior perfectly. Linkage from Shiftworks connects the 4L65 to OE shifter after column shift was swapped out. Currently rear-end is out, just waiting on parts for re-gear & posi. Body is far from perfect, she has had a couple "economy paint jobs" in her time, a fender bender, wrong center caps, missing grill script, dings in some of the chrome & a rust bubble here & there. But she looks good going down the road, not bad in a parking lot from 10-15ft & she sounds absolutely pissed off you when smack the go pedal. (I think my son is still giggling from our 1st burnout) For me, the journey of the build, gettin out & using the car, the memories made with my Dad & kids, cruisin around in an incomplete project, laughin our buts off when we blow the doors off a 5.0 mustang that wants some action at a stop light, then pullin over to BS with him & check his car out, is what this hole car hobby thing is all about.
Cool car Murray, welcome aboard! Didn't you used to have a 61 Buick? I think I met you before at Good Guys in Puyallup when I used to have my 61's....
Interior pics below, lots to do still. Steering wheel has cracks, needs some time to be filled & sanded. Origional door panels, dont have any pics of the Wildcat ones, but they are perfect & include all power switches. Aeroforce OBD scan gauge fit perfect in the Wildcat knockout on the console. Couple years ago i set the stereo up without a head unit, just a power switch & volume knob w/ Aux in where the ash tray goes. (Thats the cord dangling across the console.) I have a functioning AM radio that will replace the 80's pioneer cassette deck & will go to a bluetooth head unit hidden in the glove box so i can put the ash tray back in. Console fits decent to tunnel height. Issue i am working through is that console sits 2" above shifter, throw length of shifter is now increased where shifter goes through console, so when i have the console complete with gear indicator it wont go into park or 1st. Not a big deal, just need an unobstructed 4-5 hours to get it all sorted out. As is works fine temporarily too. Still need to get power to seats, track down some knobs & clean up some wiring. Need to modify the rear seat bottom at the tunnel. The Wildcat rear seats are perfect, some sun fade, actually less than my original door panels in these pics, so i wanted to make dang sure i didn't screw the seat up. I did my 1st attempt on the old cloth seat shown in these pics. Worked out great. Just need to get the time to make the mods to the Wildcat rear seat base & swap out those blue center seat belts for some extra saddle ones i have. The box reminds me i need to swap the wiper switch LOL. Rearend is out, wish i had known a little more about this rearend before i started down the road of rebuilding. May have been better to find an alternative. Some cleanup & paint to do before it goes back together. Lots to do, but all fun stuff to me!
