Been thinking about this for several months and believe the time has come to let this go to someone that will finish and enjoy this car. Drove out to Missouri and purchased it several years ago from the kid that bought it from the original owner. He drove it less than 1000 miles before some mechanical issues and his lack of mechanical skills forced him to park it. So over all it sat for more than 21 years. The car has 51K miles. was ordered with the Olds 350. Engine runs but has a failing lifter. Will run smooth and quiet for a bit then clack a minute until the lifter pumps up. Rinse and repeat. What I've done.... First off went through the brakes. They were shot. Hoses, some hard lines master, calipers , wheel cylinders, pads, rotors, turned drums ect. Even disassembled the porp valve to clean it of hard dried break fluid. 4 brand new tires .Think I replaced the windshield and battery ., Did a fuel pump some lines ect,. Complete new int. using all the correct factory dated material. It has that FireMist red crushed velvet seats. Very sharp. headliner and carpet. Looks and smells like new. What it needs(other than a 455 and TH400 ) Full exhaust and a paint job. Body is 99.5% rust free. Some misc wiring issues. When I'd got it they had a hot wire run from the battery to the dist for ignition power. I replaced the ign switch under the dash, it was melted, and found a burned wire in the harness. That is about all I know for sure. The car is located under cover in North Florida. I'd be willing to deliver for a reasonable fee. Asking less than my investment . $5000.00
She has been talking to me each time I go out there. Pssst.. I want a big block under my hood... Over time I learned to tune it out. Wanted to do the BBB swap with a 400 trans 8.5 diff with a 3:23 posi. Wanted to cut down those huge bumpers and french them into the fender / rear quarters. Just make it a bit more stream lined, Paint them in body color to avoid the huge expense of plating. go back with the factory color - that white top. It was factory painted like that.
Sweet car, I wish I was a bit closer. I don't need another project, but I really want a nice 5th gen B-body or C-body
Love the comment of "smells like new"...that is a selling feature on a 45 year old car? Just thought that was funny...was hoping to see "never driven in rain" or "drives like brand new". Don't take offense, just enjoy seeing how people describe their old cars
Seeing as how this in the FOR SALE section I'll bring it to the top. Its pretty much complete, running driving. 455 with a suspected Stage 2 block. 70 heads and ex manifolds. 68 intake and a modified big car Q jet. New 8.5 rear end with a yukon posi w/ 3:22 gears. TH400 trans . rev valve body and brake. 3000 stall 9" JW converter . Line lock installed. New 255/60/15 MT SS radials and a set of 245/60/15s up front. new brakes on all 4 corners. MC. some hard lines and all new hoses. Not saying its perfect, will still need some tweaking to make her what ya want. Still have not addressed the A/C or non op radio. See the other threads for detailed and current pics and vid Still plan on selling but after driving it Im wanting to second guess myself. It can be seen and picked up at the GS Nationals. 9500$ as is now or I can keep the race trans and converter + drag radials for 2K off. Not gonna make anything on this but would like to break even.
Bringing it back up to the top. Wildcat will be ready to come home soon and tis is in her spot. Any Interest post here or PM. Im feeling like Monte Hall so "Lets make a Deal" Took her to the nats and pulled off several low 14 sec passes. Theres 13's in there with some tweaking. Tags and Ins are off it. Cob webs starting to attach her to the floor. If it sits much longer one could call it a " Barn Find"
I really like this car. I'm in Florida also. My brother sent me videos of this car in action at the nats. Where's my checkbook??
I'll take most any form of payment. Can process CC's if needed. Come on up and check it out. I'll buy dinner.
It is a cool ride! It was fun cruising around Bowling Green in it with Briz, too. Turned a lot of heads in the motel parking lots.
