Looking for help on this topic. We want to change the valve springs in our stage two car without getting into a lot of grief. Can anybody recommend a tool that makes it easy?
Hi Darren, Sure, get the TA 2125B compressor for use with the heads on..works great, I use mine all the time. If you run into a situation where you can't get enough swing with the tool ( brake MC in the way on this car) then don't afraid to get creative with a spacer to get the job done. JW
I use a piece of nylon rope (fish stringer), and push it in the spark plug hole just before top dead center after valves are closed (about 1/4 turn on the crank, then when I can't push in any more, I rotate until the piston stops. It's obvious, no grunting... Then I don't worry about the valves dropping. After I'm done, I back of the crank a bit and follow the firing order and repeat.
I do the same. Dont have the correct tool. The tool I have works fine for stock springs but the set on the T-Hawk are 3 springs deep and have 650 open pressure. Made a tool that got them off just fine . Reinstalling was a different story.
