Ok, I’m new here. I have a 1970 Riviera with fuel pump issue. I’m just really wanting to verify my troubleshooting so far and a path ahead. If I run a couple of jumpers from the battery to the fuel pump it should run if I have the ignition on? If it doesn’t then I need to replace the fuel pump. This is the first time I have had deal with an in tank fuel pump. Any advice or assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

If you put 12v directly into the pump it should run weather the key is on or not. If it does not then its bad. Early Ford ranger pump is a nearly direct drop in.

Thanks for all the great information, this is the kind of info I have been looking for awhile.

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking but wasn’t sure if I needed the key on or not.

Not sure what happened but all the good information that Nailhead in a 1967 posted has disappeared.

He deleted his posts. Maybe he will explain why.
