If you have a real ‘70 Stage 1 you’re a fool for parting it out-if that carb and distributor are that clean, the car should be restorable. Or the car is as fake as your parts. Patrick
Joe- a bunch of very knowledgeable Buick people are informing you that it is highly likely that this carb is a restamp. Instead of flipping out and stating: "oh like im suppossed to know that the parts i have are not real well im sure that my parts are real they were in my grandfathers shop for the last 10 years atleast and have the cars that go along with the parts so just maybe you all dont know everything or are just plain retarded" Look at the parts, understand how it is clear that they are restamps (maybe your grandfather bought them as restamps), and take it as that? Or, try and sell them on eBay or FB. If you feel that no one here "know's nothing" or are "just plain retarded", POST pictures (the same pictures) of this carb and your distributors on classicalolds.com, Pontiac performance years, an the Yenko Supercar forum, and see what the "know nothings" and "retards" on those forums have to say...
can you tell me how you can tell it is a restamp? is it just by the labor day stamp? i have one i am trying to sell and i want to make sure it is real. mine a a 1971 posted on this forum. bought it from the Quradrjet shop
FWIW, I've met Joe and bought another carb from him. He's not a bad guy, he just doesn't know anything about Buick stuff. Originally, I had my reservations about the carb I purchased as it was supposed to be a 1970 Stage 1 carb. I sent a PM to Thumper to get his insight since it sounded like he had owned several. I didn't hear back from him. I did some research and it turns out the one I purchased is a recreation also. I didn't pay anywhere near $800 for it and it's a nice carb otherwise so I guess it's a lesson learned. I included a couple pics of the one I bought. Neal
The $800 price is a red flag. Joe obviously isn't stupid. He knows a 70 stage 1 carb goes for significantly more than $800. Then whwn presented with overwhelming evidence, he lashes out with insults and doubles down on it being a "real" 246.

The other piece (that Jason saw) was a stage 1 distributor. I saw the pictures (they have since been deleted) and as Jason pointed out, it was a restamp. There was another distributor (in the background of the stage 1 distributor picture) on the night stand/table that was as clean as the 70 stage 1 stamped one.... Is it possible that Joe's grandfather bought out a restampers collection? Is it possible that these were restamped by the current owners? Neal- is Joe educated on the value Buick parts? Like to try to give him some benefit..
Hi George, To answer your question about Joe's knowledge of Buick parts, he doesn't know anything. When I met him roughly a month ago he asked me what a GS was. I had to describe it as Buick's version of a GTO built as a muscle car from a Skylark. Since then I figure he's done research on the internet and thought he had some high dollar parts to sell. Neal
Has anyone given any thought to what a clean restamp is worth? I’d be interested how well the carb was built. So it’s a clone, for show, functions well, hell 350 minimum.
I have two real ones. A level 3 build on my 73, and an untouched 74. I’ll offer 250 for yours just to dissect the internals and show exactly what you get, after I test fire it on my car. If, it check outs, maybe you can offer your other clone pieces priced accordingly with a new sense of integrity.
Not to judge here but, the “for show” use has never made any sense to me, if it’s for show, are you going to tell everybody it’s a re-stamp? IMO, Those parts were built strictly to deceive.
