I could really use an original stage 1 air cleaner decal thats in decent shape.

Something that would match the condition of this old GS 455 decal

Yessss Sir clean new decals are nice but nothing brings the memories back faster then an original decal from back in the days when we were first popping the hoods on used unrestored GS’s from our youth IMHO.
Went to check one of mine but alllll the stickers were gone 1B465B4E-4F8B-4D2D-9967-A98BD2A71A27.jpeg

    Hi Jason,

This lid that I was talking about. It is a little rougher then I wanted. I have $42 in it. If you want it. Make me an offer. Shipping was about $12. I can bring it to BG if you want. IMG_20221006_145517871_HDR.jpg

Very carefully and slowly warm up the metal behind the sticker with a heat gun and try and get a corner going and acetone (NOT to be around the heat though as it is flammable ) breaks down adhesive properties if you can slowly introduce it behind the decal once you get a corner up.
Will be tedious not tearing it but those are my best suggestions. Definitely has the right look to it if you can free it.

If anyone can do that. I am sure you would be the guy. Since I enjoy following your post so much. I'll just give it to you. Just give me the lid back if you don't use it.

John is on the right track but I would start with a hair dryer on hottest setting before going all-out with a heat gun.

    Exactly.

I'm sure Cook has a top of the line one as well.

Buy the lid and tape off & paint it. I think there is too much risk in wrecking the patina of the decal or the whole thing (decal).

I think he wants to put it on a used/survivor air cleaner that's got nicer orig. paint.

I think Matt is on the right track. Just fog on some flat black paint and scuff it up to give it that faded patina look that you're after.
