So a few of you guys know the story about this GS tribute. Especially Larry and Bruno who live fairly close. The guy who built this beautiful car passed away. I bought it from a used truck dealer in Rome NY. So it's impossible to get any info. Bottom line. I'm trying to figure this car out. Every day seems like peeling back an artichoke. Today is no different. I always wondered how the hell the Mickey Thompson spares that came with the car (which were pretty wide) - how did they fit? Now I know. He or someone cut and boxed the rear half. It looks professional. Question. What does everyone think ? Has anyone ever seen this? I personally at 62 yo have seen some stuff, but not like this on a "A" body.
What dealer in Rome did you buy it from? Rome is 15-20 minutes from me. Wish I could help you with your concerns. UticaGeoff
Upstate Auto Gallery. Guy named Scott owns it. Turns out that he's a big Buick guy. In any case he bought it from the widow. Did a few electrical things. Bottom line. I knew what I was getting into. A really beautiful big block Buick hot rod. Pretty much too hairy for my world. But really good bones. So. Here I am. Peeling back the onion almost every day lol. It's all good. The guy Vinny built a pretty nasty Buick. I'm just trying to make it a little more streetable.
Hi, yes I’ve seen frames modified like that before it’s common for drag racing cars and when it’s done correctly it’s stronger than stock. Looks fine to me. What size are the tires? I’m partial to big tires in the back so I like it.
Anyhow I appreciate your input. Pulling my hair out somewhat, mostly with the wiring but. Life wih owning a hotrod. Definitely a work in progress.
Actually I've only driven it with the street BF Goodrich tires . Seriously. It might as well have been on ice skates lol. I will try the drag radials soon.
“Notch” and “Box” the frame for bigger tires or so you could “Channel” the body. Been going on for years on hot rods. Still popular with the Gbody crowd to get enough tire in the rear. I like the look of your car.
Someone did a really nice job on the frame notching..Put tires on and Go!! Wish my car had that done to it..
I had a 57 Belair at one time that had the leaf spring perches cut and mounted on the inside of the frame rails .and mini tubs. I was running 12 1/2" tires on that. Never personally seen this on a A Body.
