My 1965 Skylark tilt column needs a rebuild. The turn indicators don't work right unless it is not tilted. I have tried to fix it, but it is time to have a professional do the repair. Who does great work on our tilt columns?
Yes he rebuilds them completely. Here is the one he did for me. I bought this one from him as he was parting out a rough GS and I needed one for my GSX.
funny but a 65 column is a whole different animal than a later Saginaw.. I can do a 68-96 tilt/non-tilt/stalk dim column with my eyes closed, but I was sure glad I had the shop manual handy when I did my 65. You also have to be super careful of the turn signal switch - it's old, very brittle and just about all of the car's body power runs through it. A very strange design. And there are two different signal switch designs, (Guide and Boyne) and you wont know which one you have until you get the column apart. I'd check on the availability and lead times of both before you pull the column..with luck it's just a connectivity issue.
They're not super difficult, maybe even easier than a later column but I found the service manual invaluable
