Hello from Sydney, Australia. Thanks to JW (Jim Weise) for letting us in. A pleasures to be here and hope to absorb some of the vast knowledge available. Had my 63 Electra RHD for about 6 months. My first Buick! I wasn’t looking for one in particular but noticed this listed for sale and just loved the look of it. Previous owner spent a lot of $ over the years (have a folder full of receipts) so I am in the lucky position of just enjoying the ride. Car has a bit of history - was imported in the 60’s by the Premier of Melbourne as his personal car as he found the local made cars a bit boring! Some time ago she was running on gas ! So previous owner pulled all that out, reconditioned the nailhead (some pics attached of the engine out from 3 years ago) … note the metallic green paint job! Anyway, I replaced starter motor in my driveway a month after acquiring it - which was fun! But apart from that no issues, just need to replace a bit of trim, rubbers around windows, I guess there is always something to do in search of perfection (which will never be achieved)! Just found a real good set of tail lights (as chrome on mine not the best), these are on the way from autopartobsolete (USA). My rear bumper is pretty worn in some areas so thinking of getting it rechromed. Sourcing bits and pieces will be the fun part. Not many Electra’s in Australia so no hope of getting parts from here in Australia. I heard from the previous owner there is only 2 1963 Buick Electra’s in Australia!
Thanks FLGS400..... Boyd Coddington wheels... yeah everyone seems to like them... still have the originals in case I get bored of the Boyds!
Yeah thanks Nailhead in a 67.. here in Australia we say gas (lpg), petrol or diesel..... we also say boot not trunk..... and lets have a look under the bonnet (hood)...big wide world outside of USA.... these differences make the world an interesting place. Valigrunt did most of the work .... have USD20K+ of receipts from them in the folder.....
yeah that's look like the one they told me about .. the #2 sedan.... unless you can find another one then they must be mistaken...... if you up for the challenge.... haha.
sorry checked some old emails from the previous owner..... the #2 sedan is a basket case when viewed many years ago... probably gone to Buick heaven.... so its not that hardtop you mentioned... so mine might be the only 1963 sedan on the road in Australia.... doesn't matter either way... just not likely to see one around on a weekend cruise!
thanks for the info! that Riviera 4 door sedan profile is beautiful! 1963 obviously the best year they bought out so many variations!
