Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm painting my steering column with SEM trim black and keep getting fisheye, mainly on the top. I've sanded it and wiped down with laquer thinner. I haven't had this problem with other interior pieces with same paint. Any ideas what's causing this?? Thanks
When I did mine I used paint adhesion promotion, payed down pretty good. I also used it on all my interior plastic pieces.
Yes them damn things always fisheye,...let it dry,..then scuff with 600 grit,...put a LIGHT mist coat,...twice,..then let it dry for a hour then try a wet even coat
From year of getting wiped with **** like armor all,..it gets down in the metal I swear,...I hate the **** if I've told to people to get out from my shop if there car is slathered in it,..but anyway,..the Gloss lacquer is really close to factory sheen when it dries on the bare steel/pot metal
I got nothing add.. Just watching.... Mean time I was going to use SEM paint for the interior.. Then we decided to have The paint shop mix a small can of paint then coat it with some Simi gloss clear.
Best rattle can results I've had was from getting metal nice and warm and can of equal temp. Also as mentioned light/mist first coat. let it tach for something for 2nd to hang on to.
