What type of wax to use

As the title implies, I need to know what type of wax to use on a single stage lacquer paint. I am not necessarily looking for a brand name as much as the formulation that I should use, as not all the brands that you have in the U.S. may be available in Canada.

    Cheers

Carnauba wax is real wax...... Not weird oily silly-cone buy-product made in someones bathroom and sold via internet crap stores.......

Tell us how you really feel lol

Get some old school Kit car wax. Lacquer loves thst stuff. If you wanna get crazy, you can wheel it beforehand with liquid ebony

Yeah on old school lacquer I like to stay away from all these new formulations that could react with it and just use carnauba. Years ago I did a test and used different products on ONE car with lacquer paint. Some of the panels that looked the best initially ended up drying out and fading many years later. Blue Coral was the one that did that......

Thanks for the responses. So it seems that Mothers Brazilian Carnuba, or Meguiars Gold Class wax would be good choices? Is there any benefit to using a liquid over the paste?

Lacquer paint needs to be able to breathe, expand and contract. Once you wax it you lock it in it will shorten the lifespan of the paint.

I repainted my black stage 1 in Dupont diamond black lacquer with clearcoat back in 1986 it’s never been waxed a still looks like the great today other than a few stone chips. Always used a 3M glaze. You can use the black Ebony as a polish with a buffer if you can still get it, then hand glaze.

Typically a cars finish doesn’t need any wax if it’s been polished, the wax does nothing for it, ESPECIALLY black or dark colored paints, after polishing, the finish is clean and relatively spider web free, when you apply the wax, you risk putting all that stuff back on the finish by wiping the wax off.

I haven’t been to a car show in years and I was more worried about parents that don’t control their kids. I’m sure it’s even worse today.

Wax is the worst thing you can do for paint

    A garage honestly.
Wax or any type of coating can only do so much.
I’m NOT saying don’t park your car in the sun or drive it on sunny days, I’m talking parking it during non use OUTSIDE, which I’m sure most of us AT LEAST have a car port.
Also, outside with a car cover is BAD also.
Point is, Mother Nature will win EVERY TIME.
The paint (clear coat) or single stage WILL degrade over time too, even with the best of care, BUT, the good single stage and base/clears will hold up better/longer.

Paint needs to breathe.... especially fresh paint...up to a year

As Mark said its SITTING in sun that will bake it....in a parkinglot for few hours at a car show isnt a concern

    Clay bar...and then polish
