Can't believe a GS with that many options delivered in North Carolina wasn't ordered with AC! If it had AC I'd absolutely try to buy it.
Getting older I like my comfy a/c too but in the old schools, I actually kinda prefer no air. It just makes the engine compartment look so much more clean. My wife kindly reminds me on hot days, aren't you glad the engine compartment is not cluttered with all that air conditioning crap. Funny gal she is. Beautiful colors on this one.
That is a very attractive '72 with the special order Riviera paint color. I'd love to have it. I'd reinstall the missing smog pump, remove the tissue dispenser, replace the aluminum intake and headers with stock cast iron parts, and then just burn gas.
Hey Gary I really like this car as well. However don't you think $71K is high for a car that is not stock under the hood and is missing the smog pump? I have sent them a message inquiring about the AIR and wanting to know about the carb and distributor numbers.
I think that’s strong money. Doesn’t say if motor is original. Not sure how many non GSX Stage 1 HTs have brought that kind of price but maybe I’m out of the loop.
It's top money for a 72 auto car for sure....BUT it's a very nice example....awesome color combo....AND I be damn if they didn't paint the headlight doors and hood bar so I add 10k for the extra effort there since that's so hard to accomplish nowadays
I like it & assuming it's as nice in person as it looks & if numbers matching, yea, it's top $ for a '72 but not unreasonable. Very similar (S1/auto, loaded, no-A/C, SCO paint) to the '70 that sold on BAT last week.
Muscle car dealer IN Scottsdale DURING B-J ? of course it's high. But , not Crazy out of line to the '70 for $20,000 + more. Depending on numbers of course.
As I had not heard back from the seller, I called today to seek clarification on some issues. 1) It is not the original engine 2) He thinks the transmission is the original, but he has not verified the numbers 3) He does not have the AIR pump, cast iron intake or exhaust manifolds 4) The car was not frame-off restored 5) As he does not have the original engine, he is quite sure that the carb and distributor are not correct for the car. I have asked for photos of the underside and trunk, which I may receive next week. He stated that the car came from the collection of the guy who owns the MCACN show. Not sure what that means in terms of value. I am considering the car, but in my estimation a Stage 1 car which is lacking the original driveline is really a glorified GS 455 and should be priced accordingly. This car looks like it is being priced based on a paint job and what it once was. So considering all those points, do you still feel that this car is properly priced at $71K?

I don’t think you’re correct calling it a glorified GS 455 because it’s NOM, that would be the same as calling a GS with a Stage 1 motor a True Gs Stage 1 car. Whatever the car was “born as “is what it is forever. As for pricing, numbers matching is worth $10-20k over non-numbers. All things being equal. Just my opinion. It’s a beautiful car, 1 of 1 and a Stage 1 car so that adds some weight.
