Thought I would post an update here. We are getting close. The 440 came back from the machine shop ready to go. I got to do some small part restoration along the way. I’ll be dropping the motor in this week and bolting things back up to start it and break it in. We also have the trunk pan almost wrapped up.
Thanks Taulb! I used eastwood’s cast iron paint. They had great reviews for durability and fillling pits. We’ll see how they hold up, but the driver side manifold was heavily pitted and I’m really happy with the finish. http://www.eastwood.com/factory-gray-hi-temp-coating.html
Nice! I was going to flip a coin between the Eastwood and KBS manifold stuff. Keep up the good work, I would switch to the dark side for that car too haha.
Finally warm enough to get back to it. Engine gets dropped in this weekend. The hold up was waiting for the flywheel to get resurfaced and a new ring gear- we received the wrong size ring gear 3 times. Shawn and Taulb can attest- the Best builds are fueled by yeungling. Thanks for the kind words. While I have a soft spot for the charger, I’m itching to get my pro touring build started. There will be another Buick in my near future. Edit: forgot to include the pic... maybe one less yeungling.
Car is on eBay ending tonight. Looking to fund more Buick projects and get a savings started on a house. The car has generated some cool publicity, even though Fox News called it a Challenger. https://www.foxnews.com/auto/rare-g...ix-pack-found-in-barn-after-owner-passed-away https://barnfinds.com/440-six-pack-1970-dodge-charger-r-t/
Well, the charger left the nest today. Going to an awesome collector and an even better guy. I’m honored to have the opportunity to bring this car back into the main stream. This car has given me the chance to put a down payment on my house with a 3 car all Buick garage. Time to finish the other projects!
Good for you!! Those year Chargers are sexy as hell, PERFECT lines I've always held Mopars as next in line to Buick if I didn't do Buick
